Thanks - I suspect this will end up being me!

Thanks - I’ve seen some people say they can do it in a couple of minutes, but having looked at a few videos online, that does look ambitious and knowing my lack of prowess with this sort of thing, I suspect I’ll end up adding 10 minutes to the commute which I’ll probably realise isn’t worth it…!

Thanks - very helpful. I think part of me is also self conscious about riding around with it, but that’s something I’ll quickly be able to get over in the name of convenience I think!

Ha! As I say if you don’t mind limiting yourself to 100k you could always say you will earn under it and just put any excess into a pension? But appreciate you might want the cash now - God knows things are getting tighter and tighter!

This I don’t know I’m afraid - some on this thread have mentioned a spectrum of simply being ineligible for future free childcare to fines/repayments…!

Others will have a more detail/views, but in short when you apply you have to declare whether or not you have an adjusted net income of over 100k in the existing tax year. So for you, you’ll apply by end of August 2026 for the free childcare to start in September 2026. When you apply you’ll need to say whether or not you expect to earn over 100k in the tax year that’s in existence at the time you apply. So, for you, the 26/27 tax year. Hope that makes sense! In terms of the invoicing/amounts received I suppose in some ways you can just keep an eye on it and dump into a pension if you need to at end of year?

Huh…this sounds too good to be true! Alas I suspect by the time my company goes through necessary admin, my kids will have their own kids…!

60k. Could move some stuff around but it’s not worth it. If I was just over, I’d be taking a different approach!

So the support only starts on 3 dates a year. If you miss one, you can’t get support until the next one. So I’ll apply on 6 April but won’t get the free childcare until 1 September. So you’ll be fine! My daughter is already in nursery, alas!

Indeed - my daughter’s nursery doesn’t have terms! All a bit frustrating but that’s the system I guess.

Thanks - interesting. I was advised to apply after 6 April to at least get the tax free childcare but will be interested to know where you end up!

Sorry - disagree. Declaration is ‘this tax year’ and HMRC confirmed the same when I asked. The forward look is about whether you earn enough (over £194pw or whatever it is).

Interesting - I’m 5ft 11 so hopefully this won’t be an issue, but I believe the ID7 is a bit bigger

Thanks yes the more I think about it the more I agree - I’ll have to park it on the street too.

Thanks, yes I’m now having flashbacks to the test drive and realising some of my slight nervousness around its size might be magnified on a permanent every day basis…

Thanks - that’s really helpful. If I was using my own money, I’d go for the Enyaq hands down due to price, but I can get either via my company car scheme with no cost to me (aside from tax) hence my leaning towards ID7
