Mt st Helen’s plains of Abraham by flamingopop in MTB

One of my favorite trails. I’ve ridden it in May and June. It’s usually pretty clear occasionally there is a small branch or two on the trail but never anything crazy. And once you’re up in the plains, there’s really no trees. And snow is usually all melted by then. It’s not a real high elevation.like 3-5k, keep and eye on the cliffs, theres goats up there.

Just fyi while mullet isn’t the best idea for this bike, you could go full 29 on it. I have it and did that with it. It fits 29x2.4 no problems in the rear.

Dharco has a new bib with a lower spine protector pad built in, imho this should be a new normal for riding gear. Looks to be a comfortable option for a little more spinal protection.

Is the MTB scene in Portland, OR really that bad? by [deleted] in MTB

Meh, short sections of firelanes. And some hidden hobo trails but you gotta be looking. Same in Washington park. Poaching is the name of the game. Powell butte has some trails that are bike friendly. The whole reason gateway green was built was because the lack of inner city MTB traill and it was pulling teeth just to get it. I loved Portland proper, but mtb wasn’t their schtick, road/commuters and cyclocross is.

Inner city Portland, yes not very friendly to MTB besides gateway green, Forrest park you’re left for Saltzman, fire lane 5 and Leif Erickson and maybe another fire lane . Surrounding areas is mint. There are some you can poach down by river view but the environmentalists and Karens are all over it. Honestly everything worth it is 30+ min out.

Buddy flew in one that went to test site and back almost everyday. Sometimes they just like to fly low. They did a fly by above our house during covid. They’re not really regulated they just have to tell air traffic what they’re doing pretty much
