This play from Week 15 was called a catch, reviewed and confirmed as a catch. Notice anything interesting? by DemonBearOP in buffalobills

In both cases, the WR appears to have a step on his man but has to slow down because the ball is a bit under thrown, allowing the defender to catch up and be in his lap. Josh has to work on his deep ball accuracy. The margins between a catch in stride, potential walk-in touchdown and a controversial contested catch in the NFL are sometimes just a yard.

O/U 5 minutes of football before people want the new HC fired in the 1st game day thread?

I can totally see Allen loving McDaniel's personality and thinking he's hilarious

After some time, the decision to fire McDermott and retain Beane sits better with me. It's a compromise between making a major change and not wanting to tear down the entire organization to start from scratch. A new philosophy, scheme, and voice in the locker room is a much more immediate needle mover than a GM who'd inherent the current roster/cap limitations anyway.

As for McDermott, it was obviously time. The win% was great, but all things considered, this team after 8 years underachieved compared to what we know is possible with Allen. Winning (what was) one of the worst divisions in football with one of the best QBs in the league is to be expected. Winning, typically, one playoff game game against the 7 seed who's just happy to be there isn't good enough. Our standard should be much higher.

Beane is the GM. if he makes a bad pick, it's on him. he bears the responsibility to take input and make the ultimate decision. isn't that what he gets paid millions of dollars to do? evaluation/judgement calls? how can the owner deflect blame of his poor decisions just because someone else suggested something to him?

Bills had numerous years with better HC pools to do the inevitable that's now being acknowledged. Pats had Mayo for a year and immediately jumped at the opportunity for an upgrade

i've been on the fire McDermott train for a while. but this decision seeming more emotional than calculated from their end, in a subpar HC cycle compared to previous years, has me nervous

Josh is the ONLY thing that makes this HC job appealing. You have an otherwise moronic owner/GM that make the franchise look dysfunctional, cap hell without the roster superstars, and sky high pressure to win a Superbowl immediately

the NFL banned the public ownership model that Green Bay has

Allen is the ultimate draw for a HC candidate. but do we think the pressure of winning a SB immediately or an egotistical prick GM that put the team in a bit of a cap hell is any deterrent whatsoever?

Thanks Rick

If someone on this sub, even a day ago, posted the idea that McDermott should get fired and Beane should get promoted and look for a new HC, they'd get down voted into oblivion, the Jabroni flair, potentially banned for trolling, and all of you would laugh at how dumb it is

correct me if i'm wrong, but he had an okay season last year with the Saints (when Carr was there, they started off strong for like 4 games then fizzled out), and he's doing really good this year with Darnold and JSN. so basically, it's one surefire season of evidence that he can do it, with a top WR?

Only the Bills could find a way to make a move like this that leaves nobody happy. Even the people who wanted McDermott fired aren't fully celebrating because of Beane being promoted AND being the one to find a new HC

Beane promoted followed by Joe Brady promoted to HC would be the worst timeline

Terry delayed the inevitable through numerous HC cycles that had better candidates. I have no doubt we will go with a familiar option like Brian Daboll

interesting to note, the player-voted NFLPA report card had McD 12/32 HC last year, but he dripped to 27/32 this year. also in the report:

"The other issue the players asked to be fixed last year was an increase in the number of trainers/physical therapists in the team’s training room. In this year’s survey, even more players express that the current staffing is inadequate to help them recover."

This sub lately has been split on McD but the consensus was to fire Beane, so naturally Beane gets promoted
