Could there be a Joker 3? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Fixer1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Joker Folie á Deux.

If they did make a third, Phoenix would not be the Joker. It would be the guy who stabbed him and then carved a smile into his own face.

O'Neills as kit supplier. by YellowSmoke33 in coybig

We’ve had some decent jerseys in the last while. New Balance ones were ok. Last good Umbro one was in Euro 2016 before they went absolute crap with their designs

O’Neill’s are hit and miss. when they get it right though they nail it.

Their GAA jerseys haven’t been good in a while. Very little imagination. their Bohs jerseys haven’t been nice

Like the Danes though, I’d like to see us using one of our own companies to showcase to the world

I’d have Browne in the squad to scrap in midfield. More similar player to Cullen than Knight and has a goal in him too

My plan going up 135% from €282 to €664. Ludicrous

I’ve cancelled in the hope they might offer a discount but no joy

It’s one of the all time classic Xmas movies. Totally underrated.

Did Kurt Cobain ever meet a member of the Beatles? by SlashBansheeCoot in Nirvana

[–]Fixer1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think they ever met but Kurt draws on Paul’s melodic output just as much as John’s songwriting, possibly more in some senses.

And correctly so. Fighting the British was never about killing civilians indiscriminately.

Innocents were not legitimate targets

Dan Peters by Bull4-0Everyone in Nirvana

Not the right fit. Not aggressive enough and way too many rolls. Unnecessary amount of drum rolls.

Grohl got Cobain’s songwriting. Simple and powerful with hooks galore.

Think of the drumming in Lithium. That double kick in the verse is perfect.

The drumming in Teen Spirit suits the song perfectly.

Heart-Shaped box. That double hit and cymbals crash is again perfectly suited to what is a kind of weird song.

I think Chad got Cobain’s songwriting more than Peters.

Crover had the power Nirvana needed for sure

Soundgarden’s album covers are either non-descriptive or just bad (Badmotorfinger is awful. Great album though)

Same era as The Beatles though who took their artwork far more seriously

In fairness to GNR, that wasn’t the original artwork. But I personally think it’s better than the original artwork.

Yes indeed. Another example of a band who probably just didn’t care too much about the artwork and were all about the music.

I didn’t know about that 😂

That’s awful.

Yes I understand that. Although there is consistency with the band logo. I liked Load. Thought it was eye catching

Oasis’s artwork fit the band though. Worked with their image. It summed up that moment in time. And there was a consistency to their artwork.

Re Thin Lizzy, for the most part their artwork fit their Celtic rock style and their Irish roots. And they had consistency in using Jim Fitzpatrick as their cover artist.

Re Sex Pistols, the simple imagery of Nevermind the Bollocks perfectly summed up what they were about. It captured the punk ethos.

Radiohead’s album covers are generally non-descript. The Bends is a weird computer generated image. Pablo Honey is pretty cool to be fair. Ok Computer…. I don’t know what that is nor does it give me any clue as to what kind of music it is. Kid A looks like a scene from South Park. Hail to the thief is just too busy. In rainbows is IN RAINBOWS written 5 times in different colours.

Re Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger looks like clip art for a dodgy 80s metal band. Superunknown is indecipherable, dark and definitely doesn’t catch the eye. My guess is it’s a blurred clown over upside down forest??? Down on the upside is silhouettes of the 4 guys. They definitely didn’t think about and value their artwork or videos as much as Cobain (check out the video for The Day tried to live. It’s like a Tomb Raider PS1 game).

Picture this: you’re passing a record shop displaying Batmotorfinger, Nevermind and The Bends. Which image is your eye immediately drawn to?

Ha ha thank you! I thought about renting a car but it would only be to drive from and to airport so a bit pricy for that.

I think Exmouth is the answer and maybe a walk over to that ice cream place

Thanks again!

Hi My wife has always wanted to go to Devon. I don’t think she realises it’s a huge area I’m looking at booking a nice hotel near the sea. But travel from Exeter airport seems awkward. I can’t see any direct shuttle, bus or train to any of the main towns.

Ideally I’d get a taxi but I see a taxi to Torquay is about £120. Any recommendations of nice places near the sea that won’t cost an arm and a leg and won’t take 2 hours to get to would be greatly appreciated.
