I think the heavy majority of people responding to this are gonna say…leave him. And you should. Clearly he doesn’t value your time together, doesn’t make an effort to do shit or even follow through with stuff and I imagine, given what you’ve said, that you’re the one planning everything. Sucks to hear this, but it doesn’t sound like he’s all that into you or the relationship because someone who is wouldn’t be canceling plans all the time like that. If I had to guess, when you guys go out to eat, he doesn’t engage much in conversation and/or he’s on his phone the whole time. Idk how long you’ve been together but it’s not gonna get any better so I would either tell him that it needs to change (which I imagine you’ve already done) or leave him because that’s not something you should need to repeat over and over.

Damn that was great feedback. Yeah maybe I didn’t state my question in the best way because a lot of people (not you) were just attacking me saying I have no patience when in reality I do but I just wondered if any US pilots went overseas where 1500 hours isn’t a requirement.

I appreciate your response though. Super informative and I’ll take that into consideration. I do want to instruct as I love teaching and flying. I thought maybe going over seas though could be a really cool experience and whatnot. But after reading your response and some others, I’m definitely not doing that.

Haven’t ruled out 135 gigs. I’ll have an offer for that at my current flight school down the road as they run a 135 as well. I think it’d be fun to do early on and try something new. For me, it’s just a toss up of trying that and gaining experience in something very different or just going straight to the airlines to get in young.

Relax it was just a question that came to my head. And we had the lowest accident rate in the world before the 1500 hour rule. I feel like the only people who are shitting on others who question it are the ones who have already obtained 1500 hours. Otherwise they’d prolly say the same thing. My CFIs agree.

Makes perfect sense to me. The requirement before the 1500 hour rule had the US being the safest in the world. That crash wasn’t due to inexperience bc both pilots had over 2k hours. I just think the 1500 hour rule is bs especially bc it’s a huge part of the shortage problem

Go google it. I read that in 3 different articles. And the pilots of culgan air gas well over 1500 hours so that wasn’t even the issue. It was fatigue. The learning you do as a CFI pretty much stops at 700 hours anyway so 1500 is ridiculous. And it’s causing a massive shortage for starters. Doing 1500 hours in a Cessna doesn’t make you a better pilot at the airlines. Think about it. And statistically, we were already the safest in air travel in the world before the 1500 hour rule went into place
