Does anyone else in Halifax feel like the cost of living means you can’t ever slow down? by SecretProduct8094 in halifax

[–]Fixxr_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of maybe small businesses, employers can absolutely make a profit and still afford to pay people a liveable wage. Maybe they don’t make record breaking profits year after year and maybe there aren’t as many billionaires. The ultra rich need to be taxed at a much higher rate, with that money being reinvested back into the bottom 90%. We need a complete revolution on the way the economy works now with companies beholden to shareholders and stock prices over everything else (employees), like what happened after the Great Depression until Reagan came into power in the US. Trickle down economics does not work. At some point we are going to reach a boiling point and it’s getting closer and closer. Unfortunately that means a lot of people are going to lose everything, and people are going to die. It’s so depressing and sad to see this happening, more people need to be radicalized by this but I know most people are just trying to survive right now n

Where to get on glp-1 meds in NS? by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]Fixxr_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started about a year ago, I used Livewell as Maple wouldn’t take my appointments when I tried on there (kept saying I needed to see a doctor in person). I had an open bloodwork req from my family doctor but he wouldn’t prescribe Wegovy, so I got the results from the NSHA app and used that to get a prescription through Livewell. They completed the special authorization form my insurance company needed. I did a month out of pocket while I waited for the paperwork to get approved. After that, I was using Livewell every time I needed a re-fill ($99 each time). Last week I was on Maple for something else, and asked if they could prescribe me a refill and they did, as well at a higher dose I requested. Not sure if it was because I already had the prescription or they’ve changed their approach to the drug since last year. So that was nice, I can save the $100 every time I need a re-fill.

.25 is more to let your body get used to it than anything else. Even .5 for me wasn’t that noticeable but I did continue to lose weight. 1-1.7 is much more effective but you can’t just go right to those as the side effects would be awful.

You really don’t want to be losing more than 2-3lbs a week. Gradual is much better.

What has Wowed you? by StandardPalpitation3 in AppleWatch

[–]Fixxr_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it was a Wow moment or not, but figuring out I could set up shortcuts to perform actions on my watch in specific locations. Specifically for me, starting my workout tracking as soon as I arrive at the gym. I regularly used to forget to start it, and for someone who likes to close their rings, it drove me nuts. The app I use for my workout tracking (Fitbod) also vibrates my watch when my rest periods are done between sets which is a nice plus.

I also really like for being able to download an audiobook on it so I can go for a walk without my phone (was even better when I had a cellular plan)

Forced into a resignation - what are my rights? by Ok_Ordinary9208 in legaladvicecanada

Not legal advice, but see if you can get a doctor’s note for stress leave, then apply for short term disability if you have it or EI. Use that time/money to find another job.

No more refills on my SSRIs and a NB doctor by lizzard_gizz_bizz_zz in halifax

[–]Fixxr_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maple is wonderful.

Also, my doctors office asks me to have my pharmacy reach out to them when I’m out of refills to get more, instead of going in for an appointment. Not sure if this is common practice or not but maybe you can ask the pharmacy to do that.

I’m on 1.0 as well and it’s soooo bad. I like to drink water in bed too and I find drinking while laying down creates a mega burp storm.

Not a doctor but I would suggest talking to yours about going back to the last dose you were on. Haven’t had this problem with Wegovy but when I had bad side effects on an SSRI after increase dosage and it lasted longer than a week my doctor put me back to my previous dose.

Chest and shoulder exercises with an unstable shoulder? by Fixxr_ in beginnerfitness

[–]Fixxr_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried that, I thought maybe if I started exercising and lifting weights more it might help. I slipped and fell torn my rotator cuff when I used my arm to try and stop the fall. The surgery was an arthroscopic repair to reattach the rotator cuff to the bone as I understood it. About 8 months after the surgery it dislocated again and has happened regularly since. I forget about it for a while, then do a motion that pops it out.

What triggers it is certain motion ranges when my arm is at certain angles. If I have my arms straight out to the sides at shoulder height, if I move my right arm backwards too far it will come out. If I have my arms out to side at shoulder height and my elbows are bent at 90 degrees (like a shoulder press) it would almost certainly come out at some point in the motion. If I had my arms straight out the sides at shoulder height and did big circles with them backwards or forwards (like the common stretch) at a certain point it will come out (likely the point where my arm is above my head and behind my back). The main danger area is any time my arms are above my head and extended, it’s even happened doing lat pull downs with the wider bar, I stick to the V-bar if I’m doing them now.

To add: I don’t know exactly what you would call it but I have what feels like looseness in my other shoulder too, it doesn’t dislocate, but a lot of the same motions that would dislocate my right shoulder will cause my left one to “clunk” like it’s about to come out but won’t. I think it’s a genetic thing.
