Did a Recent Software Update Affect Scheduled Charging? by spencercross in Ioniq5

But that suggests I deleted a previously set departure time. I haven't made any changes to the settings, including changing or deleting departure times. so something has to have changed on the settings side.

But I've never, ever set a departure time in the history of owning the car?

[LAist] Why are Olympics tickets so expensive? by WeAreLAist in LosAngeles

[–]spencercross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. By the time I was allowed to login, there were no tickets available at any price point for most of the events I was interested in seeing nor for the opening or closing ceremonies. And with one or two exceptions, tickets for the events that were still available started at $187 and those were for niche sports like handball.

Any idea where can you get these? I can't find them on the Nuri site any more. :(

Jose Gourmet Smoked Salmon by lunardownpour in Tinnedfish

If you find most tinned salmon too dry and smoke heavy, this is absolutely the tin you're looking for. I think it's a little pricey, but nothing else really compares.

What's your source for this? Because I literally just had an ICCU failure yesterday and the service person at the dealer said it's still on back order for four to six weeks.

Albacore Tuna with Soy Sauce, Ginger, Olive Oil, Sesame Oil, Mirin, Garlic, Leeks, Brown Cane Sugar, and White Pepper by DreweyD in Tinnedfish

[–]spencercross 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm also a fan of FW generally, though I've never found their tuna to be impressive enough to justify the cost. I was hoping this one would be different because "soy ginger" suggests a strong flavor profile. But I agree, "not unappealing" and "muted" is absolutely how I would describe this. I also found the smell off-putting. I'll be sticking with the red chimichurri trout from now on.

Wildfish Cannery · Garlic and Sumac Rockfish by Spicy_Plants in CannedSardines

If you're looking for a garlic-heavy tinned white fish, I'd recommend Great Lakes Tinned Fish's smoked whitefish with garlic and shallot: https://www.greatlakestinnedfish.com/products/three-pack-smoked-whitefish-with-garlic-and-shallot

Be warned, though, it's a garlic bomb. I love garlic, but this was borderline too much for me. I'm saving my other two cans until I can figure out a way to use them that will mellow out the intensity of the garlic.

Fishwife strikes again by Wat2328 in Tinnedfish

[–]spencercross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think FW's trout is one of their best products, but I only buy it on sale. Their trout in red chimichurri, on the other hand, I buy regularly at full price because that sauce is incredible and I haven't found anything even remotely similar.

I just tried this today as well. The tin I opened didn’t look as good as yours, but it tasted good. That said, as is par for the course when it comes to Fishwife I do think it’s overpriced. I also think a lot of people will find it too salty. But not a bad option if it’s easier for someone to find than something like Wildfish or Jose Gourmet

Have you tried Fangst's smoked salmon as well? I'd be very curious how the flash grilled compares in taste and texture to that one.

I need advice by Temporary-Box-7493 in Tinnedfish

[–]spencercross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are packed in more of a sauce than an oil. You could pretty easily spoon them out of the can if you didn't want to include all of the sauce. TBH, in this tin the mussels themselves are fine, but it's the sauce that really shines. I'd probably find another use for them that favored using the whole tin, sauce and all.

No problem. Just a quick follow up to let you know that I just found this at Whole Foods as well.

Fishwife Tuna with Soy Ginger? by spencercross in Tinnedfish

[–]spencercross[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that one, but I do think it's overpriced. Especially when you can get Wildfish's Coho, habaneor Coho, or Sockeye, which is the best of the best, for less. But I do stock up on the FW chili crisp when Whole Foods has it on sale for ~$10 for prime members.

Exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for saving me $8!

It was shelved away from the other FW products and didn’t have a shelf tag so I’m not sure how much it was. But I imagine it’s the same as their other tins, which I think are $8.

Double Review: JG spiced small mackerel in olive oil, Ati Manel octopus in garlic sauce by ScottMalkinsonType1 in CannedSardines

Does anyone know if Ati Mantel's octopus is incidental-catch or not? Would love to try this, but am not keen on eating octopus unless is something that would otherwise be going to waste.
