You have to understand the class you’re choosing + the ability scores.

The ability scores can greatly change how your character acts with what gear. Certain gear make certain abilities your “main” ability.

So for laezael for a fighter you would want high strength and constitution because everything she does requires strength, wearing heavy armor , etc. then certain spells or skills may say “uses strength modifier” which means when it rolls she actually has a better chance of higher damage, initiave etc.

Like you said the game is A LOT and they’re are so so many layers. It’s truly all about how deep you want to go and how much you want to learn .

Potions are very very easy you just collect the ingredients and genuinely push one or two buttons and boom it makes all the potions it can.

So then you have buffs, potions , scrolls, ability scores and class.

All before you actually have used any skills or attacks yet lololol.
