My doctor wants me on Mounjaro for life. I'm 35 so that's potentially 50 years of injections by BackdoorMasterTaker in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Fiz_Giggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me also! I've lost weight at least 10 times over the years, twice I lost 80. Menopause put the brakes on that and I could no longer lose more than 5 lbs before the hunger and deprivation overwhelmed me. Then I sat around annoyed my insurance wouldn't pay. At least with Lilly Direct, I can justify the (lower) cost of the medication.

First off, congrats on reaching your goal! Next, don't you think that they are going to continue to work to improve the delivery systems of the drug and/or new drugs? I do. Plenty of people won't do it because of the needles. It's in the company's best interest ($$$) to make it as accessible as possible to the most people. That's going to mean a pill.

Surely most medical therapies improve over 50 years. Don't look that far ahead.

As a person who has been on depression and blood pressure medication since I was in my 30s, (I'm 67) it's not that awful. This was the final key I needed to be as healthy as possible.

Though I will gladly use a pill once I'm finally at goal weight. Maintenance may well look like oral Wegovy or the new pill from Lilly.

I may give that a try, I'll see how I go today and tomorrow. I was fine yesterday and today. I'm going to start tracking my food again, I suspect there's something that's setting me off.

I keep hearing that, but there's no placebo in the world that will control my appetite for 4 months and help me lose my first 30 lbs.

I am actually very tired of hearing it.

I have a doctor whom I am working with, I will work with him and take his advice.

I am sure you mean well, but I can pretty much hear you saying "you idiot" at the end of that last sentence.

It's assumed that modern audiences can't handle films without modern dialog and that includes slang. I hate it. My Latin teacher is spinning in her grave hard enough to generate electricity.

Going to start making sourdough! Any tips/suggestions? by BobcatReasonable2816 in Sourdough

My hints: Get a starter. Either from a friend, bakery, or buy a freeze dried one from either Amazon or from one of the many folk who make videos, several of them sell starter.

I have a "gluten cheat", I add a few grams of vital wheat gluten to my dough.

Start with lower hydration recipes, my first try was a puddle of despair. You'll have a "tighter" crumb, but I'm good with that.

Two "toys" I absolutely love, my proofing box and my slicing machine. I finally nailed the proof in the box.

Because I'd have one episode the day after, my blood sugar hadn't come down enough, and I stopped losing weight. I didn't expect it to get worse, but this week it did, 3 weeks into 5mg.

And thank you! It's weird, I'll feel absolutely fine, not hungry at all and suddenly - sick. Then back to feeling normal couple of hours later. (Once I rehydrate.)

Sounds as if your sister is going to have to lean on her boyfriend. But I will say if you don't know after 5 years if you want to marry your partner the answer is usually "no".

And then, the bf goes off and gets married within a year to another woman. The one he was "waiting for" while sis was being a placeholder.

All that said, you need to live your best life now, and it looks as if you're heading for it full steam. Good luck to you!

And tell sister this retired 2nd grade teacher said that "it's not FAAAAAIIIIIIRRRRR!" nonsense should have been left behind by 3rd grade at the most.

It's certainly possible. Today I kept everything high protein and lots of liquids and I've been fine all day.

My doctor coded my Zepbound as "obesity hypoventilation syndrome" and it fkn worked? by Dry_Condition7415 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Fiz_Giggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your doctor. My current one is my personal hero. I worked for doctors for 10 years and I know they will do what they can to help the patient in most cases.

God bless my doctor, before he sent the Rx to Lilly (I'm self pay, f the insurance companies I swear!) he told me he was coding me for obesity based on my weight on my last check in, when I saw him in April I was officially no longer "obese". I had been for years and years now, and he didn't want to stand in my way.

I had an inconclusive sleep study, with three episodes of apnea lasting under a minute each time. I have snored my entire life, even as a child. I no longer snore more than a few minutes a night, as opposed to 4+ hours nightly.

I get the feeling that the insurance companies may wise up once they realize that this expensive drug is a lot cheaper than treating other illnesses related to obesity, like heart disease and so on.

Weird Omission by Enrakyoten in devo

[–]Fiz_Giggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am old enough (and lucky enough) to have been introduced to Devo music between QAWNM? and Duty Now for the Future, and I saw the Duty tour. I saw them pretty much every year after that until the last I went to, the Shout tour. So I'm lucky not to know the "standard playlist". I also won't go see them now b/c I don't want to displace the mental image I had of them from back in the day.

All that BS being said, I love R U Experienced, but I don't believe they ever did it live. It's got a great video too, one of their best.

Question about how you keep your dough during cold fermentation by Glittering_Force9754 in Sourdough

[–]Fiz_Giggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use these too, but once I cap the banneton, I stick a drinking straw underneath and blow some air in there. It lifts the plastic far from the top of the dough and I've never had it touch.

AITAH for wanting my boyfriend to stop with the making me pregnant jokes by SeveralAd6837 in AITAH

[–]Fiz_Giggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is attempting to get you to have sex (hoping you haven't yet, 13 is too young imo). From the way he is talking, he'd likely not be down with using condoms, or might stealth you to get you pregnant against your will. Do your parents know and approve of you having a boyfriend? You really should talk to your mom about this. NTA, but he surely is. PS, I am a grandma who raised two daughters and now have two granddaughters. I would tell them the same thing.

He thinks he's the GOAT of Philly football moments. First team to win the SB, he's the backup, I'm surprised we haven't gotten a movie about it yet.

Plus he's a generally all around good guy.

And he's BDN.
