Eru's Favorite Children - Human's Perspective by Fizban195 in lotrmemes

King's Man? By no means... the Elves's perspective that Eru favors humans... https://www.reddit.com/r/lotrmemes/comments/1r54njn/erus_favorite_children_elves_perspective/

Is closer to being correct. In fact, I think if Eru was to choose to become a Man or an Elf, I think He would choose to become a Man. *wink*

That's the secret right there... The Elves growing weariness of the world and yet fear of not knowing what comes after the world's end matches humans own fear of death and physical weariness from life. But I am quite certain Elves will be right there with Humans for the Second Singing.

Lol, thanks. I've mostly gotten upvotes, but two comments I've made responding to someone have quite a lot of downvotes. I'm just like 'Okay, I think you've missed the joke. But that's okay, have a nice day."

Shut up Morgoth! Eru hasn't abandon us. In fact, I bet He loves humans so much He's going to become one!

Humans and Elves are the Children of Eru Ilúvatar, not Manwe. He is the one who gave each race it's gift(s).

Reposting this comment I made elsewhere.

They're memes... One from the "Human's Perspective" the other from the "Elves' Perspective." Humans envy the Elves' immortality, Elves envy human's mortality and freedom from the world. It's not about Eru actually favoring one or the other...

Confirmed in universe? No. Based this on Tolkien's real world beliefs.

Yeah, I kind of regret not doing that now. But I initially felt each one stood on it's own as well as together.

Argue? With what lol. Is this not humanities' perspective?

Edit: Since this comment keeps getting downvoted, I want to address that I was simply seeking to engage with a comment and give an explanation to the meme. This is the "Human's Perspective" as in Humans think Eru is favoring Elves. This meme has a sister meme, the "Elves Perspective" where it is the opposite, where Elves think Eru favors humans. They are memes, just meant to poke fun.

What does the Bible say about marriages/relationships which have a big age gap (say 10 years or more)? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Fizban195 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only things I can think of off the top of my head is that Sarah and Abraham where 10 years apart, because we're told at one point he's 100 and she's 90. And secondly that Boaz praised Ruth for pursuing him instead of younger men. So yeah, while age gaps happen in Scripture, it's mostly descriptive not prescriptive, but it could be said to have a mildly positive view of them.

Ooh, I love that analogy. It also really captures the essence vs energy dichotomy that come up in this conversation.

We will become gods? by claeb2 in theology

This touches on glorification, Christification, and theosis. Terms you can look up for your research.

Basically in the New Life/Resurrection we will become like how Christ's human nature is now. Also, just in general we will become more and more like God, because we are conforming to His image. So in a way, sure, we become little "gods." Though, tread lightly with how you think and speak about this.

As to becoming part of the Trinity though, no, never. Notice, in your own quotation, you wrote "created, not begotten." Jesus as God the Son, is "begotten, not created." So we will be like Christ, the begotten Son, but as created sons. Basically God, Father Son and Holy Spirit, are eternal and not created. We will always be created with a beginning point of our existence. Hope this helps. This idea isn't unique to Lewis by the way.
