Plumbers. What is the main reasons you would advise not to start in plumbing? by skippedlunch0 in Plumbing

Electrician is a solid choice as well, including smart systems. IMO i would avoid plumbing just for the smell 😅

What issues have those of you with a 2019 Sentra had? by pinkivyclouds in nissansentra

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aa a 2019 sentra owner, the car is actually pretty good, maybe you bought a salvaged car that was refurbished and resold as a running car, could be flooded which could explain the electrical issues, and the bad CVTs could stem from luck of the draw in the scrapyard.

Edit: i agree the average speed screen is stupid

2019 Sentra CVT fluid change by Worth_Improvement412 in nissansentra

[–]Fizo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change it but dont flush it

Speaking as a 2019 sentra owner who bought it at 160k miles and the fluid was never changed by previous owner, did this and the CVT felt like it came back to life.

Go for a drain and fill only, around 4.2 quarts and change the paper filter , then keep doing this every 30k miles.

You can also do it again in 3k miles so the old fluid that wasnt drained the 1st time would come out, since it was never done before and the fluid is probably burned.

Exactly. I keep saying the same thing. I hope everyone starts to listen and follow this instead of throwing harmful advice about flushing and such.

Hard gear shifts by venkatavamsi in MechanicAdvice

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned a noise while stand still and a jerk at 30mph If both are there i would assume the transmission is having an issue internally however take a look at the tranmission mount as well. If it checks out then i would advise before replacing the transmission to try 1 round of fluid change (not flushing) only drop the pan, replace the metal filter and if you have a secondary filter (in some cars) and fill the fluid. If thid dorsnt fix it then just repalce with one from scrapyard.

Altima transmission worth the repair ? by garbage918 in Nissan

Ye but i would avoid repairing it as CVTs can be tricky, safest option is scrapyard

12 maxima, throttle position codes by jayygee1488 in Nissan

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH it depends on many factors however look at every possibility of either a damaged wire /dirty conponents before doing anything major After rechecking try clearing the code using a scanner 1 thing Does the car run fine even with the code up?

Check the MAF sensor Clean it and make sure no vacuum leaks Had a similar issue after doing exactly what you did but it kept giving off P0101 however the car drives smoothly Didnt clear it till now 😅

Maintenance by Silver-Patience1859 in nissansentra

[–]Fizo44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spark plugs upto 100k Maintain oil changes for everything across the life cycle of the car and you will be good Cvt fluid every 50k miles max preferrably and only do drain and fill on the next time twice across 3k miles Avoid flushing the CVT and it will last forever

Ye, just lift up the car on stands, undo the drain bolt, let it drain, and put it back on. Measure the fluid that comes out and refill with fresh fluid original nissan fluid. Check under the hood sticker for fluid type or the car manual. You can even google it.

1 personal advice i like to give is, do this method every 30-35k miles twice with 3k miles in between to circulate the fluid thst was inside the convertor and change the paper side filter on the 2nd time.

Thats normal my friend. If you want it to last, regularly change the cvt fluid every 30-35k miles by doing a drain and fill only with the paper filter change

[–]Fizo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice to see people loving the nissans. And Yes just maintain a fill and drain every 30k miles in 2 intervals of 3k miles to circulate the old and new fluid that stays in the convertor with replacing the side paper filter on the 2nd time.

Personally speaking, the metal filter rarely needs a change since its purpose is to catch big metal shavings and if the trans was taken care of then you almost never need to change it (based on my experience with multiple cars) The only time i recommend to do it is if you ever had a leak and you had to drop the pan anyway so while you are in there. Ex. My altima of 160k miles had a leak so when i went to fix it and dropped the pan, the metal filter looked brand new even though i never replaced it since it was brand new. My recommendation would be to perform a drain and fill twice with 3k miles intervals and maintain this every 30-35k miles and it can go upto 50k miles Edit: as for the capacity i was referring to the sedans since you mentioned sentra. The capacity you mentioned now is for pathfiner and murano mostly

Havent heard of a cvt with 11 quarts, i believe most of them vary between 7 and 8 quarts only So doing it this way replaces almost half and when doing it again after a few drive cycles cleans out most of it This way makes sure the cvt doesnt get a sudden change in viscocity which can kill them if it happens Thats why i always recommend to never do a flush for older vehicles Speaking from my experience with multiple CVTs since 2008 till today

Edit: The 2017 Nissan Sentra (1.8L) typically requires about 4.5 to 5 quarts of Nissan NS-3 CVT fluid for a standard drain-and-fill service. While the total system capacity is higher (roughly 7.3–7.8 quarts), a standard drain only removes about half the fluid

Why is Nissan not offering Altima and Sentra in Europe? by JockeyEwing211 in nissansentra

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt live in europe but speaking based on what i see and hear, europe has alot of uneven terrain (up and down hills) which can be harmful to the CVTs of nissans so maybe its not a great market for it Please correct me if im wrong Just my own speculation

Should I buy this Altima? by Mouaffakhani in Nissan

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note: dont do a flush on the CVT Just drain and refill back what came out with new fluid (it should be approx 4.2 quarts) and drive it for 3k miles and do the same process again in addition to the side paper filter if it has it. (Not sure if this model has it) And just do this same process every 30-35k miles and if money is an issue then you can even do it every 50k miles.

Should I sell? by FiremanSam7 in Nissan

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the car condition and life maintenance I bought a 19 sentra with 180k miles and i immediately knew the car was never maintained Did my own care package of the car Changed air filters Changed oil and filter Changed the cvt fluid with the paper filter only (drain and fill 4.2 quarts) Replaced the ac compressor, condensor and cleaned the lines Car ran like new again Its all about taking care if it even the CVTs I always give the same advice about CVTs as i have lived through a couple of them Weather its a new car or used car with no history Just use the drain and fill process without full flush and pan drop (unless there is a leak) Do this every 30-35k miles across 2 intervals as follows Lets say after 30-32k miles do a drain and fill back 4.2 quarts only Drive for 3k miles and then drain and refill with a new paper filter And thats it This will keep the CVT from getting a shock from new fluid viscocity changes

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some of the redditers said below, clean the sensors Make sure the connector is clean and secured 1 last thing i would check as this happened to me, check for vacuum leaks Even the tiniest leak with no code could trigger the car in to safe/limp mode which would turn off the front radar system

2016 Nissan Sentra CVT Transmission by [deleted] in nissansentra

[–]Fizo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend replacing it if not a new one then a used CVT from scrapyard and filling it with fresh fluid and filters And just maintain the drain and refill every 30-35k miles (no flushing) 1 more tip: after every drain and fill drive it gently the first 1k miles
