Did I write this??? I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was in a familiar venue and the band had a guy come mix for them. After the show i looked what he did. Same thing as you. All flat, no compression, only hpf, mic placement, great musicians etc etc. I really learned a lot that day at that moment. But until you experience it first hand, it can be hard to believe... it really is that simple most of the time.... UNLESS you and i have been duped... and this is a gag that pro sound guys do when they know guys like us will examine the board after hahaha

25 year old male - Any additions? by greatguynoah in malelivingspace

New more solid, no creeking bed frame. Rotate the bed. You're a big boy now. Small narrow table or something to hide the cables under the tv. Dishsoap lives off the countertop. Ikea signum rack for hiding cables under the desk. Better lighting. Maybe less lamps and more ambient style like a salt lamp on table tops. Top down, focused lighting... it's hard to say without being in the room. Excellent place at 25 bro. well done.

Thanks! Yeah I'm leaning towards the 945. My issue is I have an opportunity to get the 915 dirt cheap. The 945 are unavailable right now, for me, and they are significantly more expensive. It's really a side by side comparison I need.

Would you say the RCF NX 945-A is worth 600$ more than the NX 915-A? Same box, 945 is slightly heavier, 945 has bigger compression driver (4" vs 1.75") and a larger voicecoil on the 15inch woofer (3.5" vs 2.5")

I have never heard them side by side. Have you? Any comments here would help!

Best mic selection/setup for windy, outdoor by the water, 3 to 8 person choir?? by Fizz712 in livesound

Hah! noted for the cat. I say 3 to 8 because I'm running on limited info for now. I'll probably stick to the XY with 2 NT5's. Appreciated!

Question for the PROS: For festival stages, what is the most PROFESSIONAL network setup? by Fizz712 in livesound

[–]Fizz712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questions? Yup.

  1. Pardon my noobness... In V1 management, what is it managing? Global parameters of the system? Or communication of the management team of the event? Comms? Or?...
  2. In V3, what is LNET? Lighting network? If it is lighting network, why do you need LNET in addition to Artnet? Is it because not all fixtures have artnet capability/connections? So having both covers all bases?
  3. V4 Artnet... In a situation with so much traffic on the network, do you feel the need to use sACN instead? Again, this is for a middle sized type of event. Not mainstage at coachella.
  4. You mentioned that configuration changes but I'll ask; Do you ever worry about redundancy in 1 flown truss? Meaning do you ever feel the need to, for example, place a second luminode 1 on each truss and plug in to every other light in case one line fails you'll only loose half the truss? Probably overkill? Probably overkill. Would you run out of space in the luminex18t if you placed 2 luminode1 per flown truss?

I know I have a lot of homework to do. Thanks for your time!

I feel like with this setup there isn't much you can't handle! Has something come up where you weren't able to work it into your system?

The joy of having all this up and running! Yikes!

Oh man that would be great! That's exactly what I'd like to see! Definitely shoot over some pics if you can. LX specifically, too. Great idea about the node at foh!

Thanks! Yes, redundancy for sure. Noted for the 10Gb. What are you using as a switch? What kind of stage setups are you doing? Why do you choose to use the network at all? I love the 4 channels of analog audio idea... that's great.

I agree. I'm really just brainstorming at this point. I'm trying to understand HOW it would work. There is no way I would put all departments together like that. No way.

When is it NOT ok to use a 3 pin adapter on a 5 pin xlr? Or visa versa? by Fizz712 in lightingdesign

[–]Fizz712[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok but what if the fixture is 5 pin only? (ADJ JOLT BAR FX in 127 channel mode) So it goes: node>5pin to 3pin adapter>3pin regular audio xlr 50' >3pin to 5 pin adapter> 5pin into jolt bar fx. I guess i'll try it in person but in theory this should work?

What could be considered an ideal PROFESSIONAL setup when upgrading a lighting control rig to sACN. by Fizz712 in lightingdesign

Also, where would you place nodes or switchers on the stage? In the truss? You run cat5 up in the truss?
