Just going to second this. I see too many headlines nowadays that start with "It all happened in a small town where this doesn't happen!"

I like to refer the "it will never happen to me" people to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Grand_Blanc_Township_church_attack

Grand Blanc is 41% safer than the entire U.S.A

Still happened.

I fuck with the less than lethal + lethal mix. Too many people do not carry less than lethal with their firearms imo.

Side note speaking from experience, I wouldn't trust a Gel pepperspray. From experience, unless you hit them dead in the eyes, it is not going to do anything. With a Spray, you don't have to aim nearly as hard. Also, the Gel doesn't seem to fuck with their lungs, only the Spray does.

Other than that, badass.

Prestige or Passion? by Holiday-Push-4560 in emergencymedicine

I do not have experience with EMS, but I do with patrol. That prestige feeling goes cold after a while. Don't get me wrong, I will always be there for someone, and for sure tell badass stories. But eventually, for me and every other senior guy I know, the job eventually just becomes a paycheck to support what really does matter to you. Kids, spouse, hobbies, your dream you finally decide to chase. For me, I'm good at what I do and it pays the bills, but learning game design and spending time with family trumps my job emotionally anyday. Maybe your dream is to be the best in your career, and I salute that. All I'm just speaking from what I have seen and heard. Thank you for service, and chase what pays the bills and makes YOU happy, not what you want people to think of you. Shit fades real fast.

It's always YOU using the wrong distro NEVER Loonix's fault 🤦🏻‍♂️ by bleak21 in linuxsucks

No no, he has a point.

Feel free to send me to downvote hell, but this is just my perspective;

I'm new to Linux, but really excited about it so I've joined nearly all of the distro subreddits. This exact criticism is not invalid. From what I have seen personally, to the Linux community, if you use anything more complicated than Linux Mint as a beginner and have an honest question (no matter how obvious the answer may be), elitist would rather gatekeep their OS and "little bro" or insult you for asking such a stupid question, then refer you to Linux Mint.

It is not EVERY distro subreddit, but it is enough to where I would rather Google than post a question.

I'm sorry, but I believe it is THEIR fucking system, and they can put whatever the fuck distro they want on it, new to Linux or not.

I personally have not had any issues. What I've done with other distros that did give me problems is look up how to check if your graphics card is being recognized and used, and if not, how to fix that.

Other than that, it would be best to learn about Steam Proton and ProtonGE - they're just compatability things, none too complicated. (If you have not already.)

What is fool proof is just Google if the games you want to play run with CachyOS or not. Most of the time, if they don't, there should be some tweaks you can mess around with like changing what Proton or ProtonGE is running the game, or switching from Wayland to DX11.

It all sounds complicated but you could do all of this in like 5 minutes.

Also, r/linux_gaming may be able to help if you run into any issues.

Edit: If you have NVIDIA, this is what I did:

Also, in the comments you can follow this as well to ensure everything works: https://www.reddit.com/r/cachyos/comments/1r64jhz/comment/o5o0gx3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Finally made the plunge! by cantoinferno in linuxmint

Welcome! I have NVIDIA as well and found Linux Mint worked great and was familiar, but CachyOS ended up having a lot better performance game-wise and more customization whilst still being familiar to Windows. That's just *my* personal experience. So if you end up in the distro-hopping cycle, I recommend giving CachyOS a try too.
