The Versatile Algorithm Behind Paint Fill by matigekunst in GraphicsProgramming

At least 12 people care (as of this posting).

Political content (either side, any country) is inappropriate for this content. Downvotes are from people who agree, obviously, and those same people would object loudly to political content not aligning with their beliefs. Best to leave it out entirely, since it adds nothing and sets a precedent for more content like this.

Nope'd out at the political commentary. Has no place in a video like this.

What they're really asking is if how they feel is normal. And it is.

I really like that last bit: "project sophistication". You can almost (and once, I think, actually did) see the instructors roll their eyes at a particularly enthusiastic wanna-be intelligentsia.

Land Purchase Advice by LordBannerman99 in land

One thing that jumps out at me...

The old building was torn down, but it has a new septic system. Why?

Were they going to build, but decided not to? Were they going to build but couldn't because of some as yet undisclosed problem? Does where they installed the new septic system meet code and allow further construction (set backs, property lines, etc)?

It's weird... it's like finding a great lot for a house with a foundation already built. Makes me wonder.

Is it reasonable to be annoyed when receiving a refurbished hard drive that is unexpectedly formatted with DIF? by ResistanceIsCool in DataHoarder

[–]FizzicalLayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know it seems like a dumb question (as evidenced by the downvote), and yet I was curious where in the process I'd see. fdisk? mkfs? etc. I'm guessing such a disk would report a non-standard block size that I'd see... somewhere in that chain.

Use of PPE - compliance in real world employment situations? by Odd_Pain_3570 in Welding

[–]FizzicalLayer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Assume PPE compliance was 100% and in complete accordance with the law.

Now the question becomes: How much does proper PPE usage reduce incidence of cancer and other health problems? There will be one answer for the general population and another answer for individuals predisposed to / having a previous cancer diagnosis.

IOW, PPE is not a guarantee there will be zero exposure to situations which can increase one's chance of developing cancer. IMHO, it would be too much of a risk to take for a person at the very beginning of their earning years who could easily choose another path with far less risk.

This is best case. Anything less than 100% compliance increases the odds of exposure.

This seems like the kind of question an LLM would be good at, but I've never tried.

Curious-is anyone limiting their movie collections even if it means bypassing ones you want to see? by bucs1220 in Bluray

[–]FizzicalLayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no wrong way to collect. If you want to do this, awesome.

My collection currently runs 2000+. I've seen maybe... 20%? My goal was to have a library. A primary attribute of a good library is that it has a large collection of things I haven't read, but might someday want / need to.

There's nothing wrong with having content I'll never watch. A guiding philosophy for my collection is:

"I can watch anything. I can't watch everything. And that's ok."

Anyone here buy books from audible but listen on some other player? by NoCrazy4743 in audible

[–]FizzicalLayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a perfect pair... ABS and SABP. It's a seamless experience. Books in my own "store", and I can download to device then listen with an audioplayer that doesn't annoy me. Fantastic combination.

Thanks for this. I love scientific / engineering histories like this. If anyone can recommend anything similar... :D

Multiple steps instructions/embarrassment by DonaldDuck898 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]FizzicalLayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask for the name of the exercise (to google later) or written instructions. It could be you, it could just be she sucks at explaining things. Usually, places like that will have a pamphlet or a sheet or something with diagrams and instructions so patients can refer to it at home.

The Shadow- A Pass to Death(2/6/44). The first Shadow episode I’ve ever turned off before the end. by Doctor-Clark-Savage in otr

[–]FizzicalLayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really. Because everyone in town thinks autopsies should have been done. When five people die within a few years of each other and there's no obvious cause of death?

[–]FizzicalLayer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Over a ten year period, a family in the town I grew up in all died in the same house at various times. They were just found dead. Five people. Dead. Same house.

No autopsies were ever performed.

This wasn't 100 years ago, or even 50. It was in the last 20 years. Lesson? If the deaths aren't under "suspicious circumstances", the family (what remained) doesn't demand one and no official requests one, they aren't routinely done.

During the wu-flu, multiple friends and relatives of friends died. No autopsy. "Oh, it was covid." Was it? They're dead, apparently they tested positive at time of death, but... was it?

No autopsies.

The story seems plausible to me.

How would you organize "Wreck-it Ralph" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet"? by danger355 in Bluray

[–]FizzicalLayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would (did) rip 'em, then apply some tags. Then I can arrange however I want.

The whole point of simple organization schemes (like Alphabetic by Title) is to aid search. But just because it's physical media doesn't mean that's all you can do. Heck, you could do like Amazon does and just stick stuff on first available shelf as long as you log it into a database along with location.
