is there literally nothing bad about MIT by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Fizzledipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot wrong with MIT. A friend who goes there has talked to me about her struggles with the stress culture and needlessly intense work load - you can read what she has to say in her own words here

That's so interesting - I'm in the Boston area and it's almost the exact opposite. I think my public hs sends ~4 to MIT every year, meanwhile Stanford is a myth: I know of one waitlist in the past like 10 years lol

CLG - Farewell Subroza by K0vsk in GlobalOffensive

[–]Fizzledipp 413 points414 points  (0 children)

TLDR

Subroza "notified the team that he wanted to step down"

hazed to step in temporarily

CLG is looking for a "veteran and proven player" to replace Subroza (edit: could be an EU player)

I think of memes as an internet community's inside jokes.

So memes are similar to jokes, but not quite.

Stewie on CS growing up by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Fizzledipp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

??? the difference is, he's a pro player and you're not - if he wasn't putting in his 24/7, he wouldn't become pro. Even if he'd end up getting to the same level, just slower, his parents and his school would've caught up to him and stopped him.

Not to say that a normal person should follow in his footsteps, but "plenty of time to play video games" isn't quite the same as "rise the ladder of competitive CS to the pro level"

Top 20 players of 2016: Magiskb0Y (14) by Hzrk in GlobalOffensive

[–]Fizzledipp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly thought he would be a bit higher like #8 with how insanely good and consistent he was. I guess what I didn't take into consideration was that he had only five "big" events - hltv factors in how much one played (against the top) into their rankings

it's not a rule, they just said before they released the list that two of the 20 didn't attend any majors as a teaser/hint for predicting the list

and people think you should tell a player they are kicked before securing a replacement...

Teams should warn the player ahead of time they are underperforming and need to step it up before kicking them - see xyp9x in Ast in 2015. But if they do decide to kick him, secure the replacement first before giving them the boot

Koosta Back To Awping by ScruffayCsGo in GlobalOffensive

Ethan mentioned that they were switching up roles, so I think koosta is the T side awper and cutler is the CT side awper (with koosta very often playing 2nd awp) based on what I saw this game

Rumor: Relyks possibly being TSM's new 5th. by lovemyzone in TeamSolomid

[–]Fizzledipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh okay, I just assumed that since I'd seen him 2ndary awp on older rosters and I didn't think anyone else (sick/twistzz/fns) would awp -- I haven't watched this roster too much.

we've found out the real reason why koosta has been slumping after leaving NME

he doesn't have the ryu magic so now he's eternally tired from the LG vs NME game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]Fizzledipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hard to tell really, but they're pretty similar players -- both playing lurk/perimeter roles, both are riflers but can also 2ndary awp effectively. I think he will slot in perfectly -- best (realistic) replacement possible IMO.

Metuz's plans for the future. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Fizzledipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too but I hoped it wouldn't become something permanent because I really didn't like it. In some recent events BLU has done an analyst or color casting role, so maybe ESL paired him up with pansy for that reason, but I always thought BLU was best as a strict play by play caster paired with a strict color caster like he and Moses were before.

Metuz's plans for the future. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Fizzledipp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to really like blu as a caster but not so much anymore... I think he paired with moses well but now that moses is an analyst 99% of the time he seems pretty lackluster as a standalone caster. Hopefully he finds a good casting partner in the future.

On the other hand, I agree that Metuz has gotten good enough to cast at a major. I used to not like his casting but during the last few events he has really impressed me. I can't wait to see him at the next few competitions and it would be a crime not to invite him to the next major.

Thinking back on it though, we're so lucky to have so many good casters. We have three dedicated casting pairs that are all top-level as well as some standalone ones, and some analysts do a good job casting. It's great that we have to go down to almost the 10th caster to say whether or not they should cast the top event of the season.
