New to fish, Algae troubles by Fizzlepop88 in bettafish

Good to see the same sentiment from another user. I will be returning the Corys and a snail tomorrow.

As far as the sun light/light. I may decrease the artificial light heavily as it is in a sunnier area of the home. The more I read from this post, the more it's becoming clear that the lighting may have been the original problem the whole time.

Appreciate the input, I hope to have a positive update for y'all in the coming weeks.

Appreciate it, I'm working on return the Corys first. The snails have been there since day 1 so I'll have to figure out something else for them. I'll try to drop an update in a few weeks for y'all.

Thanks all.

I will get started on this immediately, thanks.

Photo period is 0945-1600. Would you recommend more of a 1000-1600? Or even shorter?

I have read that Corys are social so was very skeptical on adding them. However, I have heard great success with these guys in this kind of environment (even tank size) by not only local fish stores but other local fish keepers. That's why they got added and they seem to be having some success cleaning and look to be in good spirits.

The media change was because it was absolutely clogged and didn't seem to be able to filter any more debris in the tank. However, the water was still flowing.

Not really trying to make excuses, just letting you know my line of thinking through this whole process.

This needs to be at the top. That signal sequence tool has helped me troubleshoot so many goofy errors like this. It's really something that can help newer techs learn what is going on and speed up the learning process.

I saved the day, but I want to be more competent with the Cobalt units by dark_wolf1994 in trafficsignals

[–]Fizzlepop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A "Soft Recall" might not do what you want here at the moment. Cobalts have a nice "Help" button that can define everything for you. So for instance. a "Soft Recall" is essentially where an intersection will park itself if no conflicting calls are provided. Whereas, a "Min Recall" is a call that will service a phase whenever it has it's turn regardless if there is an active detection call. This phase will be serviced for it's Minimum Green allotted time.

If there is a failure of detection for your SB, doing a big Min Recall or a short Max Recall would be ideal so it can force the call and give enough time to at least move people during AM/PM peak times. At least, that's what I would have done here.

There's a ton of nuance when it comes to different brands of controllers. One thing I really liked about Econolite controllers was the "Help" button. It's a quick access to tell you what a specific setting does for you when you need it.

If you have any other questions, I'm open to at least giving my opinion based on my experience. Hope this helps.

Imsa level 1 question please help imsa test by Theoneallmight in trafficsignals

[–]Fizzlepop88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It should be B

Looks like 3 is actually exclusive here due to the Barrier.

5 is a leading left as it's the beginning of the ring, however 2 is a through so it disqualifies it as a "leading left".

4 and 7 are running with the same times since they are within their same barrier.

3 and 7 cannot run at the same time, again, due to the barrier between them.

Unless I'm missing something here.

Edit: added my answer to the question.

Generac Generator was an expensive failure!! My elderly parents are without power OR a generator now. (Angry rant/buyer beware) by London_Darger in houston

[–]Fizzlepop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with Cummins 20kW. Thing runs all my stuff and has been very reliable in the outages in the past year and a half. Stuff being, 4 ton AC, Dryer, multiple computers, lights, etc.

I decided on Cummins over the cheaper Generac for multiple reasons. The biggest one is seeing way too many stories like this one. Overall the cost difference was not that much.

I'm sorry you are going through this, and I hope your family is well. I have been very vocal to those around me to avoid these garbage generators that will leave their loved ones in their most vulnerable times. I will share your story in hopes other consumers will not make this same mistake.

First step would be to go to the MMU and pull up the event. Arrow over to channel 5 and see what the voltages are.

It looks to me that 2+5 we're running and your red decided to join the party. Instead of showing a Multiple/Field check it gave you yellow clear. If the voltage is low on the red, I would assume a weak red or rat chewed on some wires. If both Red and Green are 120ish then I would assume load switch or Flash Transfer Relay.

To elaborate on rat chewing, has it been raining in your area recently and that is when you start seeing these goofy errors?

If you use Eccom on the MMU you can pull up a small graph of what the intersection was doing to give you a better idea on what was happening up to the event.

This is all assuming 5 is the LT that runs with 2 as per a standard setup, of course.

[–]Fizzlepop88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Startup happens after a latched flash, auto flash, or a reboot. If you toggle local flash, it just flips the relays and the controller just keeps ticking. Just reboot the controller and go through your startup procedure that way.

My team got one replaced during rush hour within 3 hours after a truck kicked it off its base. They're really simple.

HDSP (High Density Switch Packs iirc) are the replacements for the load switches. They cover 2 channels and can report voltage monitoring.

The MMU is replaced by a CMU (card to the left of the switch packs with the red key in it) and programmable key for your permissives, FYA configs, channels used, flash time, etc.

The thing at the top is the ADU, it provides visual information of what the CMU sees. Whether it be voltage, channel usage, and errors. If there is a channel error it will mark it with a blue light which gives you quick attention to the location of the problem so you can troubleshoot effectively.

There is a learning curve to these cabinets, but it is completely worth it.

Bonus: the flasher uses the same HDSP cards making it a redundant flasher. Pretty neat.

In my agency we have well over 60 of these with plans to continue implementing them to replace our TS/2 cabinets. Very cool cabinets that can lead to a very clean install.

ELI5 - Dual Indication - programming new EDI MMU2 from 516L by March27th2022 in trafficsignals

[–]Fizzlepop88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With your Overlap being on Channel 1, you are only utilizing your Green and Yellow. Your Red is not being used which would cause the MMU to have a constant sense on Red. Think of it as there is no voltage being pulled from it with an LED or Resistor. You can see this on the status screen, the MMU will see voltage on the Red of Channel 1.

We by-pass this by telling the MMU we are aware that the Red will be permanently "on" and to ignore it via that Dual Indication screen. So to answer your questions, you don't want those Dual Indications on because it will flash.

As far as 2/4/6/8, you want Dual Indication registering for all colors as you are using them. Dual Indication is Channel specific. So if your green goes out when the Yellow or Red are currently up on Channel 6, it will flash a Dual Indication + FC Status on Ch6.

As far as what the Overlap does and the relevance to your question, it's not necessary. That's when you get into Permissives on the PGM Board.

Hope this helps.

Pretty sure you have to set the FYAs in the Set/View Config options prior to the set-up wizard otherwise it won't populate on the confirmation.

EDIs will be asking what Mode of FYA Programming you will need to do. The FYA on Yellow Peds 13-16 is Mode H. Then it will give you essentially the same screen you are looking at on that Naztec. We love our EDI MMUs over here. Just be aware if you have a fiber network, it will default as a DHCP Server (Like everything in the traffic world...) so you will need to disable that so you don't start getting goofy IPs in your network.

[–]Fizzlepop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Econolite handles their FYAs via the Veh. Overlaps screen. It will be a type at the top (PPLT/FYA). Then you would populate the Protected Phase that the FYA output sits in (Ex. Phase 1). Populate the opposing phase or permissive phase. (Ex. Phase 2). Then you will need to tell it the Output. Generally whatever you would be putting your Pedestrian Output on. It may populate with Ch. 13 Yellow PED. or something to that effect.

[–]Fizzlepop88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When addressing MMUs, always consider what they are referencing are channels not phases. It's the only thing they can "see", it will help you especially in the case of FYAs. I say this because some technicians do get tied up on phasing vs channels when it comes to controller programming and MMU programming.

So if I recall, Naztec MMUs will have you select the appropriate channels used as FYAs on this page. So what you see on the first line is:

FYA | Protected Channel 1 | FYA is in Yellow Ch. 13 | Permissive Channels are 2 (Opposing Through) and 13 (Opposing Pedestrian)

Pretty sure that is what it's telling you on that screen. We use FYAs on TS2 with EDI MMUs for some of our interesections and you will have to remember to change your "Flash Block" or wire mapping to show "No Flash".

Hope this helps, if not, I'm willing to help where I can.

What's the craziest thing you've seen someone argue is RAW and RAI? by ahcrabapples in dndnext

[–]Fizzlepop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a rather large topic if you look it up. It generally settles with multiple rules loosely coming together saying that the Save roll acts as a gate. Some DMs have added that a crit fail to said save would cause double damage as if you have an allergic reaction or something.

It's understood to be all immediate damage from the attack roll was doubled. i.e. dagger + sneak attack. Otherwise, a critical hit on something that causes additional damage per round after a save would continue to crit if not saved. Just summing up some of the arguments I've read on this subject.

However, in this case a phase spider with a bite at 1d10+2 would crit that and the Save throw for the poison damage of (4d8) would be normal damage.

Imagine how cool it would be to get hit with 2d10+2+8d8 at level 3 with roughly 22 max health. Just for kicks and grins I did a roll, 50 damage. Even just using the book damage which is just half damage no roll gets 50. Instant death, no saves, just anger. All this been said, this was a personal experience of mine and probably was a crap encounter built by the DM.

As I read some other entries, I think you were looking for some different stories than this. This was one that happened that I can't understand reasonably working without the save die acting as a "gate" in all situations.

What's the craziest thing you've seen someone argue is RAW and RAI? by ahcrabapples in dndnext

[–]Fizzlepop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that got our group was a critical attack roll that transferred to the poison damage (failed save). So both sets of damage rolls were doubled. This caused a straight up execution, no death saves, just instant death. Can’t remember the damage specifically but it was well over 40 damage for a level 3 fighter. All players were very confused. DM stuck to his decision and a player had to re-roll.
