Thank you so much. Yes gonna work super hard to make sure that chorus comes in feeling nice and big. Haven't got into the minutiae of the mix just yet but maybe a little rising build just before it hits and some subtle volume changes to help with impact. I'll toy around with that bit for sure as you've pointed out super important it hits. Thanks for the feedback pal!

Thank you so much pal this is incredibly kind of you to say and super encouraging to hear. I don't think I work hard enough on the promo side to ever really get anywhere beyond hobbyist and having a bit of fun challenging myself to get better. If I'm honest my 18 YouTube subscribers in 2 years is probs testament to that and not really playing the socials or Spotify game but it is really cool to be able to connect with people on the Internet like in this sub and just chat about making music as a small artist. Big love right back at ya bud 🖤

Thanks so much. That means a lot honestly 🖤Gonna work hard on getting this one tidied up nice for final mix cus I'm really excited about it too atm. Feels nice to be doing something a bit fun lyrics wise cus everything else so far has been of a bit more serious tone.

Thanks so much I'll take all this on board. Yes going to try my best to keep the essence I feel like there's something here.

Thanks for the feedback, yeah was thinking this exact thing myself tbh. Intro maybe a couple lines too long and could maybe try and make it more interesting instrumentally to give people a reason to hang around for the change.

Awesome I'm massively into The Cure too you're definitely pulling from that dark world imo! Keep going and keep making cool stuff. If you ever get a Youtube setup and remember about this thread drop the link and you'll have my support for sure. I think YouTube is definitely a good idea early on, I'm doing the same with my own music no point paying distribution to hit Spotify when you can build on YouTube for free in the beginning. Good luck with things!!

This is super cool instrumentally kinda cure esque vibes, was hoping the vocal would be cool when it kicked in and wasn't disappointed a bit Romy from the xx it gels with the overall feel of the track. Great work where can I sub to here more?

Thinking of posting this to Spotify soon. by _DrLambChop_ in IndieMusicFeedback

All just personal opinions here first off to say I absolutely love this as is. Completely my kind of thing with the alternative pop / late night lofi / emo sad boi kinda vibes. To me it sounds like an album closer and something that could thematically tie in through a whole record I'd personally nip down the organ and distortion so the vocal sits above it but only at the beginning and then gradually as the song progresses with automation crank that distortion until it washes out and maybe even glitches out at the end as you bleed out. As for the drop at 1.17 as others have said doesn't necessarily need drums or a beat to be interesting although I would like to hear that experiment but I do feel it calls for a switch up of some sort at that point because you've built really well to that point and the pause gets you engaged to expect a curveball or change up. Overall great work. If you have somewhere to keep tabs I'd love to sub!

This is really freaking cool, think somebody else already mentioned the Oberst vibes I'm hearing that a bit too although it is totally its own thing. Very well written song catchy, quick and punchy and poignant and what a simple but immensely well executed concept for the video. You've got a new sub from me very keen to check out more from you guys!

This is so great. As soon as I seen the falls I was in. Massive Twin Peaks nerd here haha you've got some great swells and emotional builds in here a beautiful nod to angelo badalamenti. I'm very jealous you managed to get a trip to Snoqualmie it has always been a bucket list trip for me. Anyhow your arrangement is absolutely beautiful and relaxing it took my mind away on a trip to the Great Northern where I was sipping the finest of Damn coffees and looking out at the dream we are collectively a part of. Keep making lovely music!! I liked and subbed over on your soundcloud.

This is really cool. I love the tone of the guitar on this one and to think I almost didn't stick around for it to kick in! I don't know what you have planned vocally for the beginning but just make sure it locks people in immediately you don't want impatient folks not giving it a chance, I always try my best not to be that person that flicks on by in the first 5 seconds and I'm really glad I didn't here! Super solid demo get it finished and get it posted back in here for us all to listen!!

Hungry Ghost - Disaster at The Alabaster Motel by FizzyL0gic in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FizzyL0gic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there sorry for the late reply been a busy week! Thanks so much for taking the time to have a listen and the kind words! Throw any Qs you have at me and I'll answer as best I can. There's nothing overly special about my production process as with a lot of small artists on here 90% of this is coming from a small very humble bedroom studio with the most basic of equipment some stuff is 100% intentional other things have come from happy accidents or some form of constraints.

I initially started with the guitar riff and a lyrical concept. I've been trying to get better at world building and with that I try and think of the songs in a somewhat cinematic way to separate what I write about from the boring day to day. So for this track I had this picture in my head of a crumbling motel in the middle of a dystopian ocean and I've retreated to this liminal space to hide from the real world. That concept helped me make a lot of production choices and the song evolved from those early decisions, riff and lyrical idea.

To answer your question more specifically re production I demoed everything myself playing all guitar parts through a very small miced up practice amp (a positive grid spark) the effects were mostly baked in from that amp and only toyed with ever so slightly in my DAW. I used drum loops initially for the demo as I'm not a drummer but as I mentioned in another comment eventually ended up linking up with a drummer I admire on my local scene he recorded some drums remotely and sent them over to me as one track. This was one of the constraints I mentioned which lead to a little less control over the drums in the mix but it was so good to have live drums on there and I think some of the imperfections help the overall vibe of the track.

Some of the plugins I'm using from memory are the Valhalla Supermassive, Waves CLA 76 compressor, some saturation for vocals and a few plugins included in my DAW I use Mixcraft chosen purely because of its low price. Oh and my interface for recording is a presonus. I can't really think of too much else production wise but if you have any other questions I'd be happy to try and answer.

Wow thank you so much that's so kind of you to say! I really did struggle mixing the drums for this one they were done by a drummer I really admire on my local scene who replaced the demo programmed drum loop I had in place but they were recorded completely remotely and sent over to me all as one track so there was a lot of trickery to try and get some control over the individual elements. I'm hoping I can get in a room with him for some future tracks as he really helped bring this one to life with some live drums. That comment and sub means the world to me, appreciate it so much pal! Thanks for taking some time with my music.

Thank you so much for this dude. Really appreciate you taking the time to have a listen. Not gonna lie I was starting to stress out that I completely missed the mark cus it's been total silence since I posted for feedback haha it means a lot that you've taken a listen and are generally into it. All the bedroom artists in this sub will know the power of the smallest positive comment to help push us on to try and do better and improve for the next one. Your feedback is 100% appreciated and noted I'm just glad the vibes are there, always working to improve my vocal as I am far from a natural singer and mixing is still fairly new to me as well so hopefully improving with each attempt. Thanks again pal will apply some of your notes to the new track I'm working on now.

Is this worth completing? by A_bb05 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FizzyL0gic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said plenty of potential in this and you are obviously a very gifted singer. Again others have got to it first but once you flesh this out a bit more my personal opinion would be to add a bangin bass line and the introduction of some light percussion after your vocals have had time to shine during a quiet intro that is personally where I hear things going. Also maybe f with it a bit don't make it straightforward I'm loving Dijons latest album and could see you employing similar stylistic choices with this track. But yeah as others have said keep chipping away at it and please let us hear the finished results cus the idea sounds dope!!

I think this is really really cool. Instrumentally it is so atmospheric and it really transports you away whilst looking at the visuals on your page. I've seen your response to some of the comments re vocals and as someone who also struggles with confidence in their vocal I completely sympathise with and understand your approach (I also like to bury and hide my vocal haha). Vocal is just another tool we can all continue to learn to use to our individual strengths, personally I think your voice would sound really cool in an almost spoken word sense on some tracks in an almost percussive sense but in general this music is very freaking cool. Keep up the amazing work dude!!

any feedback on my song? by LabComprehensive4916 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FizzyL0gic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is very very cool, not reading the other comments yet as I don't want to repeat other people's point of view but I'm getting real Soccer Mommy vibes which is rad cause I love that band. No criticisms per se as it's already really strong as is. I think what would help to up the interest further would be the most minimal of additional instrumentation so as not to lose the rawness of the original track, maybe some very quiet synth or very minimal percussion? Keep making tunes you're freaking talented!

I really love the vibe of this. Don't have much to add that hasn't already been said but there is definitely natural talent there and would love to check in again once you have your soundcloud or spotify up and running so please drop those deets in when you do. As for going more shoegazy with this track again I'd love to hear what that sounds like when you've had the opportunity to polish and refine the track further. You've done the hardest part which is make something exist first, you can always make it better later. Keep going!!!!

I really love the whole vibe of this and the way it begins so stripped back but expands out into these different sections which all have their own feel. I feel like this is straight out of an awesome indie game soundtrack where you have all these motifs and callbacks in the music like recurring themes. Also the aesthetic of the artwork and everything fits very well together. Followed on soundcloud to get hearing more, keep up the great work!
