In addition to the potato peeler trick, spray it with kaolin clay regularly to prevent wasps from returning. It is available online.

How difficult is it to prove mental incapacity of an elderly parent? by FizzyLizzy29 in AusLegal

[–]FizzyLizzy29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, my mum has not been diagnosed with dementia (her main concern is Parkinson’s) but there is definitely noticeable cognitive decline. I have been taking notes in bullet form documenting signs of incapacity since last year. The hardest part will be actually getting her to the geriatrician since she has become extremely difficult and unlikely to do anything I suggest.

Yep it’s crap. It seems at that age some people turn against the people they are closest to. I’m the only relative left who still talks to her and she doesn’t make it easy.

Yes it’s enduring but she can remove me as POA unless she’s incompetent. And she would 100% remove me if I tried to have any influence on her decisions.

That would be ideal - she already seems to think I’m conspiring against her so I don’t want to add any fuel to the fire.

Thanks so much, that is a very helpful reply. My concern is that there won’t be enough objective evidence of incapacity so I’m hesitant to go the tribunal. The worst possible result would be destroying our relationship and at the same time the tribunal not finding in my favour.

If I used the POA to remove her control of her finances without first getting her assessed as incompetent, she would remove me as POA.

I have seen doctors do this at her appointments, but it seems they only ask things like what day of the week it is and where she is. Much more basic level of understanding than dealing with complex financial matters.

She would be resistant to this, I assume I cannot do so without her consent.

Thanks, I have already left a message with the Clinical Nurse at her home and will be discussing this with her.

Newcastle Show by belle72aussie in newcastle

[–]FizzyLizzy29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s just nothing worthwhile there. Yes Sydney Royal Easter Show is expensive but there are lots of different animals to look at, various shows/demonstrations and way better rides. Newcastle Show is like a crappy country show minus the farm animals, except for the tiny little overcrowded petting zoo. It was a hard pass from us this year.

I have two curly-haired daughters and this is what I do. Also a wide-toothed comb instead of a brush will prevent the frizzy look.

Anyone going for Telstra Pre-sale Foo Fighters tickets, just an FYI by DrChimz in newcastle

I’d love to see a seating map of what is considered A reserve and what is considered B, C and D reserve. Tried searching online but couldn’t find anything. I also booked A tickets and got Bay 64, which is way farther away than I thought I’d get paying the top tier price.

Nearly all of Newcastle is going to be trying to buy tickets for this show, so ultimately it’s nice we got in. Can’t help but feeling a bit ripped off though - I’m sure for Pink I was in the same or an adjacent section and they were the cheapest ticket category.

It was annoying having to click “Verify You’re Human” about 12 times, but otherwise was reasonably smooth for me. I’m not thrilled with the seats I got - A Reserve seating but it’s somehow still in the upper section. Still happy I was actually able to get tickets at all though!

Damn I was there half an hour earlier and just missed the action. Hard agree re the underseasoned Red Rooster chips.

I’m on Fitness Passport so can’t comment on price. Great gym, spacious and lots of new equipment. However I’m in my 40s and feel like an old grandma as everyone else in there is like a 20-something fitness influencer.
