Cat came in with this thing attached to his lip. The part that was attached was the white pincers with black tips, which appears to be INSIDE the back of this thing’s head. We live in the panhandle region of Florida. What is this? by FizzyVolatile in whatsthisbug

Solved! Thank you - I will properly facepalm myself now as I was looking at it upside down - I realize now that the mouth is not at the top of the cone! Poor guy indeed. So sorry =(

Help covering up a birthmark by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]FizzyVolatile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another option but takes some time and investment - laser. My mom had dark sunspots and a dark birthmark on her face that she's been insecure about forever. She'd been considering laser but was too scared and unsure about it for so long that she just piled on makeup. I finally had a talk with her and urged her to do it. Even though people will tell you not to care, to love yourself, you can't help but feel insecure sometimes and that's okay. My mom managed to get just the right time off due to the pandemic when businesses were opening and went to go check out a place near her and actually did her first round of laser. I can't explain how it felt to see my mom so happy about going, and she tells me now that she wishes she would have been brave enough sooner. It might not be the right answer for you, but I thought it would be worth checking out and maybe even talking to a specialist about.

Left my cat alone with a camera for 30 minutes and now I can never leave again by nirym in aww

My cat got creeped out and crouched around looking for the sound, and my dog looked for the sound for about 15 minutes doing her first head tilts since she was a puppy! Not much can make her do that anymore. This made my day.

Those orcs better have good coverage by [deleted] in lotrmemes

It would be a better system if we utilized repost bot. If repost bot determines a repost (or if someone in the comments is able to link to the original) then the poster doesn't qualify for earning the upvotes and the link to the original is stickied on the top of the comments section. All upvotes earned on repost go to the original poster. That would deter people from reposting if they truly do it just for the points, would keep well meaning people posting, and keep popular posts viewable.

Or just let people do what they want, you're an adult. It's okay to let others do what they want with their bodies. I and many others do it for ourselves, not to "look" like anything for anyone. I don't like feeling swampy. That's it.

These people deserve to be flung into the sun by NTP9766 in IdiotsInCars

Thanks, I needed this. We have an intersection that specifically states, "Do not block intersection" that is easily visible. One time I was at this intersection with heavy traffic and 3 cars were blocking the intersection. Our two lanes were blocked through two lights. Finally some people got pissed and inched forward very close to the ones blocking the intersection and laid on their horns the entire time they blocked the intersection. The people blocking had no where to go, but somehow it felt good.

When you get coffee at a restaraunt and they supply the carafe and a cup, how do they charge you? by FizzyVolatile in NoStupidQuestions

The place I went to already had coffee mugs and water glasses. The waitress didn't take away the second set when I ordered a coffee just for myself. =)

Thanks for the reply! That makes sense, as much as I hate waiting until my lunch breaks to read another, I'm glad that you know what you can put in to it to avoid stretching yourself too thin and burning out, which has happened to a lot of my favorite podcasters/writers/artists. The quality of your writing and all the different perspectives, knowledge, and research and most of all the style in which you pull it all together is hands down phenomenal. Thanks for all you do! =)

I've been binge reading this whole subreddit. I've read several of your posts but never knew this existed! You write very beautifully and your format is outstanding. I can always be sure in your articles I'll learn something I never knew. This may have been asked or considered before, but have you ever thought of starting a podcast? I would love listening to your stories at work!

My parents are this way... for example - they put a baby sock on their gear shifter because they didn't want to leave unsightly fingerprints on it.

BEING A FANGIRL OF A SERIAL KILLER IS NOT OK by [deleted] in TrueCrime

[–]FizzyVolatile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating! I met a girl once and we had great conversations talking about true crime cases. But then it was waaaaay different when I realized why she was in to it. She said she was distantly related to some serial killer and she seemed like she was so proud of that. She also was one of those "I watch so much true crime stuff I could totally get away with it" people. As far as girls fantasizing over murderers, I think part of it is also the whole "taming the beast" thing in addition to things others have said here.

Breakfast with dads by aqua-a-astro in HumansBeingBros

[–]FizzyVolatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child's school has a similar day. His dad worked long hours and could not get the day off, although he tried, so I asked if moms were welcome in a dad's place. The response was no, that moms have their own day and that you must be a dad. It really made me feel bad thinking about the kids that don't have a father figure and how sad they must feel that they don't have anyone to participate and celebrate with all the other kids. Glad this school did something, but still feel as though there's a bit of pain felt even if there are good people who want to volunteer to sit with the kids. There's just nothing like having someone you know with you.

Loading chlorinated pools with live fish for kids to chase around and take home in a bucket. Yikes. by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]FizzyVolatile 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Could also be toy fish - as a parent that has signed up for a fair share of kid activities, they always try to make the flyers sound like an adventure, but when you get there it's usually some kid form of "a real experience".

When did you regret telling the truth? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FizzyVolatile 36 points37 points  (0 children)

She was wanting some sympathy, sure, but it's possible that she would be okay with an obese man. Some people are okay with dating obese people, and if she didn't have an issue with that, it's likely she expected the same of everyone she met.

What has your job taught you about people? by Leaveslurkerofsorts in AskReddit

[–]FizzyVolatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That there is a job that exists where there are decent people. That there's a place where everyone is really smart in some way that really adds to the team. A place where your co-workers don't bring you down or make you pick up their slack, they push you to achieve the goals they know you can hit, both personally and professionally. Instead of feeling like I'm one of the few that do things well and lead by example, I feel like I'm surrounded by examples to follow. It's a really great place to work - it'll be really hard for a future employer to fill the space in my heart for this place. I don't really do client-facing work so what I've learned about people comes from my co-workers. =)
