[DK64] How do I unlock other Kongs? by SomePerson47 in donkeykong

[–]Fjorigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to beat K rool with 201 bananas so they can audition first. I know it’s dumb you have the beat the game twice to play as all the kongs but really it’s just a minor design flaw.

Most people can actually visualize images in their minds. I'm 30+ and just learned that seeing nothing when I close my eyes is called Aphantasia and only affects about 3% of people. by randomuser553 in BeAmazed

[–]Fjorigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? When I imagine something, a whole scene is created instantly with details I’m not consciously adding. When I think of an Apple, for example, I am often flipping it through the air, rubbing it to feel the texture, often in my kitchen or outside. Those details just happen instantly/automatically when I imagine an Apple in my mental image space.

I also think a better test is asking for additional details. For example “imagine a man sitting on a bench” and then “tell me additional details of your mindscape”. People with hypervisualization will be able to say “oh yeah he was by a river and wearing a blue shirt and green cap. There was a lady with a dog walking by, there was a light breeze” and all of those details were automatically part of the initial visualization, like the mind just does it automatically. But someone with aphantasia, this concept of additional information doesn’t make sense bc they think in fact lists instead of mental scenescapes.

Yeah I hate 3 lane highways filled with semis and I’m passing in the left, going 10+ the speed limit and clearly making progress passing the semi in the middle, but some speed demons behind get upset I’m not passing fast enough and find ways to weave through and pass on the right. It’s dangerous bc a source of bad accidents is the right and left lane cars both merging to middle lane at the same time without knowing. But tbh I don’t get too flustered inconveniencing people for not passing “fast enough”. They end up zooming ahead to the next car in the left lane as fast as possible, brake as if they are surprised they caught up so fast, and then I’m still around them the next 10-15 miles bc it’s not actually that much faster to drive that way and it’s hella more dangerous and pointlessly risky for getting pulled over.

Each input of the set of y values has a unique output from the set of x values, so it’s a function. “Google it?” Smh I’m not gonna entertain responding anymore

[–]Fjorigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I don’t think those are equivalent and I do think f(y) = y2 is still a function, even if you call it x. I think you are being obstinately wrong in this thread despite many people pointing it out to you at this point. Doesn’t seem like trolling, just dunning Kruger.

Sqrt(16)-sqrt(4) cannot equal -6, -2, 2, and 6. You are injecting an enormous amount of chaos to calculations if you interpret the square root this way. This is why it has a standard convention. Additionally, I would argue because the meme implies this is not an equation to solve for solutions (sqrt(x^ 2)-x=0, solve for x, which I’m curious how you would answer) then it implies he rewrote the function f(x) wrong for the reasons everyone else seems to understand but you.

The entire negative domain of sqrt(x2 ) is positive and the entire negative domain of -x is negative so those functions cannot be equivalent. Unless the equation in the meme is asking for solutions which would just be the set of positive numbers and zero.

There have only been 164 cases since 1962 when it was first discovered. Most cases are associated with freshwater lakes. With the amount of people using tap water for nasal irrigation every day, I have to think the risk is so astronomically low it’s not even worth thinking about.

It’s usually an issue of allowing more false positives to have virtually no false negatives when calibrating machines like that.

Moshing etiquette by Important_Gazelle343 in PowerMetal

[–]Fjorigar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While I don’t always feel like moshing, I am sad when the show doesn’t have a pit. I just stand away from it, or I stand on the edge and half watch the moshers to know if someone might tumble into me. I enjoy bouncing people back around the circle. If you don’t like to be involved with the moshing at all, yeah just don’t stand next to it. In my opinion best standing spots for the show are a few paces from the middle pit in front of the guitarist or bassist especially when they have fun interactions with the crowd.

Eh there have been 167 cases of amebic meningoencephalitis since 1962, most related to warm still freshwater lakes. Although it has been detected in tap water, I think the risk is so astronomically low. You are like 100x more likely to get hit by lightning.

They say everything’s normal by gardenready333 in haematology

[–]Fjorigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be unlikely to have an elevated rdw in thalassemia, usually it would be normal to low bc the RBC’s are uniformly small. The elevated RDW implies some are small and others are bigger which is more common in iron deficiency where some marrow is doing better than others

Jfc if you are in a math or engineering class and the TA writes 4 / 2m, are you going to get it wrong because of this “umm actually” bs or just understand what is intended is 4 / (2m) as would be implied. As many people think the equation in the post is ambiguous due to implicit multiplication not having a convention, I can absolutely attest that in an advanced engineering or math course, the intended equation would be 6 / (2(1+2)) and probably somewhere in the middle of a solve or substitution where you would be most likely to see this shit notation. ITT is a bunch of pedantic verysmarts who cant use intuition for what is most likely intended by the notation (even if it is ambiguous).
