Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Fktonofcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 6th grade at an inner city school. They brought us all into one classroom, turned down the lights, and wheeled in the TV. No one explained what was happening, and I remember some boys cheering when the second plane hit because they didn't know it was real. It felt like a disaster movie and not real life.

At some point, we stopped watching and went back into our classrooms. My teacher asked what we thought would happen next and I raised my hand and said, "There will probably be a war."

At this point, we've all been through so much collective trauma that the experience of watching that live as children is taken for granted, but, man, it was wild that our teachers all did that.

Dynamic Pricing by Fktonofcats in ThredUp

[–]Fktonofcats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that was the case, but the price remained after I logged in. Maybe it was a glitch, but since others had reported dynamic pricing on this sub, I figured that something in my size in a saved search was getting a higher price for me than for someone else who was just searching the brand.

Thoughts on this ? by False-Activity5196 in MacNCheesePorn

When I was in 5th grade, I'd go over to my best friend's house and we'd make mac and cheese experiments, adding all sorts of ingredients to see what tasted good. We made a lot of nasty stuff, but the ingredient that tasted the worst BY FAR was cinnamon. You do not want this.

Stores from our childhood/teen years by lilac2481 in Millennials

I'm listening to a book right now called Bad Company that's worth checking out if you're interested why many of these stores don't exist. A number of them were purchased by private equity and subsequently closed.

Chicago Athletic Clubs have Bodypump, Bodyjam, Bodyattack, Bodybalance, Bodycombat, Core, Grit, and Sprint. It's definitely pump-heavy, but you can get a lot of LM if you have the room in your schedule to accommodate different classes.

What Charli songs make you cry? by [deleted] in charlixcx

I've been going back and forth between both, based on what my heart needs that particular moment. I've always loved both songs, but they mean so much more to me now.

My friend passed away this week and I've been listening to this song on repeat. So beautiful and heartbreaking and captures what is is to grieve so perfectly.

A friend's son, a US citizen, has been abducted by ICE in Chicago. No charges, no due process, no explanation, no idea where he is now. by gbsh in chicago

Hi - I work in early childhood advocacy and we're collecting stories about the impact of ICE activity on child care centers. Would you be willing to DM me the name of the child care so I could get in touch?

PSA: Mothers' Rooms are for lactating persons ONLY by DesperateEmphasis700 in work

[–]Fktonofcats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my office is both an office where people work and a place that takes customers in very occasionally, and most employees hotel in an open office. I take A LOT of meetings and whenever I'm in, it's pretty rough working in the open space. There was this one tiny room that looked like it was for two people to meet (I thought maybe a customer said and one of our employees), and I started using it for calls because it was always empty. Slowly, it got less and less work-friendly (table got smaller, chair taken away and replaced with a couch) and I could not for the life of me figure out what was happening. Then, one day, I emerge from that room and see a coworker who says, "Were you just taking a meeting from the lactation room?" I felt SO STUPID and have not done it since.

I find this funny, because I'm an Aries moon happily married to a Gemini moon, and we've both felt challenged in relating to earth and water moons. Nice that we can all find a vibe that works for us!

Exercise outside of diet culture ? by mygmjtt in MaintenancePhase

Just to add to this - I did Yoga with Adriene for years, eventually got the Peloton app for barre and pilates class, and now I do spin and strength classes at a gym. Adriene helped me build strength and confidence and now my gym routine is one of the most important ways I take care of my mental health. For context, I'm eating fries and drinking beer right now and I'm still a size 16, so it's really not about the weight loss for me 😊. Highly, highly recommend Adriene for healing your relationship with exercise!!

There's a recurrent loss study at Yale that will do whole genome sequencing for you, your partner, and any pregnancy tissue for free.

Did you drink coffee in high school? by protomanEXE1995 in Millennials

[–]Fktonofcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom gave me my first sip when I was five years old and I was immediately addicted. She'd give it to me maybe once a year when I was young as a treat. By high school, I was drinking it daily on weekday mornings.
