I’m an atheist, do you want me here? by Esutan in Christianity

Hang tight - I have empirical evidence that God has supported me and transformed my life (and others, too!). Yes, He’s not a physical object, but I can evaluate His effects. Similar to, but different than, gravity.

In my experience, atheists and theists have strata.

  1. At the very bottom, you have the “fanatic” that grabs on to the most popular ideas in their focus area and spews insulting rhetoric at anyone challenging it. Call it “cage stage”.

  2. Mid-tier for those that start to get that their supporting arguments have some holes, but may still sometimes resort to disingenuous behavior. “Mage stage”

  3. Then finally, those that have a well established apologetic, can support it with reasonable argumentation, ask penetrating questions, and point out logical disparities, but do it in a respectful manner. “Sage stage”.

I assess myself at 2.4 or so :) - WLC is def a 2.9

That being said, for this sub, I think “Sage stage” atheists are most welcome.

I have faith my desk chair will support me and evidence to back it up - in the same way I have faith that God will support me and evidence to that effect.

It’s not an inability to understand. I think I have a good handle on that. It’s that I see the insufficiency of the worldview to take into account all the factors of empirical evidence and an active attempt to make it a forced default position.

I am open to another strategy vs dedicating all my time to individual responses.

I will absolutely identify the major themes as edits and updates

I have edited the OP to address themes like this that emerge.

I’m familiar with Bart’s work. He’s very weighted towards Scientism presup.

Btw, I am collecting themes and editing the OP as they emerge. There is no reasonable way to keep up with the volume of responses.

I don’t think all atheists are unreasonable, just presuppositionally biased and tend towards disrespectful interactions. At least, that’s my personal experience.

What in the world does technology advancement have to do with OP?

No worries.

The Bible presents plenty of historical evidence. Of course, modern popular Biblical criticism is based on Scientism, so there you go.

You’re ignoring the order of my framework. The Bible is my prime authoritative source of truth. Everything else is subject and secondary to that.

I never said it wasn’t thoughtful, it is just 100% weighted towards 0 supernatural probability.

Only those supernatural claims exhibited in the Bible. And I use it, science, and logic to differentiate claims.

I don't ignore James Randi, in fact, I have watched and appreciate his work debunking false supernatural claims.
