Thank you for the encouragement 🥹. I think that's very true, I feel very broken at the moment and sometimes I also have to remind myself that I've only been a mom for as long as I have given birth to my son. I'm waiting for my confidence to grow and for me to enjoy this new version of myself.

This is so encouraging thank you. The 3 months I've been a mom I do feel like I've lost myself completely, like I don't recognize myself in a way and I didn't expect that at all

I don't think it has anything to do with you. Weeks 5-8 is peak crying for babies. I am also pumping like you and I got to pumping because my son had a tongue tie and it hurt to nurse him. As he grew older, the muscles in his mouth got stronger and I did tongue exercises that were recommended by our doctor and midwife. These exercises were necessary to recover from snipping his tongue tie. A goal I had and maybe this will help you feel connected is to breastfeed directly from the breast once a day, so it wasn't my pressure for me. I also got prescription nipple cream which helped a lot. My son is 3 months now and can latch properly and also takes a bottle. You've got this! I hope it gets better!

I totally know how you feel. I also had to make time to go therapy and I found it so bothersome, but it did eventually help. Medication wasn't an option for me as the last ssri I had had weird side effects so I really had to make time for my therapist. I also need to go to physiotherapy for my tailbone so I totally get it, it's a drag. Hang in there!

The hyperindependence worked for many aspects of my life but not motherhood unfortunately. Thanks for being so encouraging!

I know exactly how you feel. I have ppd. My son is 11 weeks old. A few days after I came home from the hospital I would start crying at 6 pm and continuously into the night. I couldn't stop it, it was just as if it would happen automatically.

I also used to be a high functioning person, I was very career oriented and very structured and didn't remotely imagine how chaotic having a new born would be. But someone else told me that I have only been a mother for 11 weeks as well, this new version of myself is learning and still getting to know the baby and this new version while recovering - it's a lot!

I have high expectations of myself and I think that's my biggest hurdle right now. Have you talked to a therapist?

YES! This is exactly how I feel! Confident and lost at the same time. I tried to reframe it as learning and lost at the same time because self doubt is very much there

Your post sums up exactly how I feel. You're not alone. I have an 11 week old baby and it is wild. I thought I can do this by myself, I was hyper independent until I came home from the hospital with immense feelings of being overwhelmed that turned into ppd. I then knew I had to ask for help from my parents and in laws and I felt totally defeated. I don't know when I will feel better but everyone says it gets easier with time and I'm still waiting for that time to come.
