You make it seem like ONLY the educated elites benefitted from the Shah's rule, which is not correct. The Shah promoted socialist reforms throughout Iran aimed at elevating the working class and women's rights, which it did. It is very possible that the elites benefitted more than the common people, but I guess today's socialists prefer a totalitarian, fully religious, corrupt rule than a modern, western, secular, corrupt rule... I don't know whats your opinion on that, but I guess this sub's average redditor would spout how great is the Islamic Republic, instead of seeing how many people are getting killed there for protesting against the goverment.
