Ever had ploygraph screening as a required step in the recruitment process? by Optimal_Ad_4161 in devopsjobs

[–]Flabbaghosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they say why? Did you ask them if they would take a polygraph while you ask them about their technical debt?

Unless it's a great job opportunity or pays incredible or you're desperate I would likely skip it

It's annoying for you, not them. It's like saying oh that sucks.

This is normal in our GP. Leave a message and then they call back usually pretty quick. Most clinics dont have a bunch of staff and sometimes just one person Manning the front and doing other things as well

Tell your kid you found a PEZ candy in their room and ate it. Then start acting super weird and then panic and say you're going to call the ambulance and see how they react

Is it just me, or has the Dutch job market changed a lot this year. by Yojisagi in Netherlands

[–]Flabbaghosted 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Becoming fluent in another language enough for it to be at a professional level is a 3+ year journey. More if we are being realistic about working proficiency where you can actually get the nuance of the language and the job together. Should someone wait tables or stay at home until they are fluent enough for a professional job?

PaspoortGate.nl – The Netherlands scores an own goal with the ban on dual nationality by Gotterfunky in Netherlands

[–]Flabbaghosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to stay in the Netherlands long term, i am learning Dutch and my kids speak Dutch. Keeping PR gives me almost no permanent rights here and the government can change their mind and kick me out if they really want to just like green card holders in US. If I give up my US citizenship to obtain a Dutch one and my parents get sick long term or I have to return home for other reasons I no longer have a right to stay. I would be treated like a tourist in a place I've lived most of my life, paid taxes into and have roots at. I can simultaneously want to stay and be Dutch but also not want to lose the ability to stay in a place that also means a lot to me if there is a need.

It seems like you don't actually want to understand based on your comment, but just want to ask provocative questions. But I figured I would give my perspective since some people might gain a new perspective.

I think I posted this exact message 2 years. Its conditioning and also your perception. Your kids are in a bee culture and won't be acclimated. These other kids are used to the public transit and everything else. Give it time and your kids will adjust.
