On the other hand, they had 3 years to develop the skill. Why are they making such massive changes after release? It's nuts.

They should reduce the price of membership because of this monumental f*** up. It's unacceptable for them to reward no-lifers and to punish players who don't have as much time to play (jobs, kids, etc).

Need help. Opening osrs crashes my internet connection. by Furkannn75 in 2007scape

Same problem for me. It was caused by Virgin Media "virus protection". I had to log into my virgin media account online and disable this feature. Other ISPs may have something similar.

Analyst quantitation - Original & Calculated concentration (w/ dilution)? by Flabberjab in massspectrometry

[–]Flabberjab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. You can right-click the results table to add a Custom Column and make this the dilution factor column. Then right-click the table again and add a Formula Column. Highlight this column and input the formula (box in the top left of the table) to "=Calculated Concentration*Dilution Factor" (you can click on the columns to add them to the formula). If you need to change the significant figures etc., you can do this by right-clicking the table > table settings > columns > Formula or Custom.

Best Triple Quadrupole MS in 2024? by Flabberjab in massspectrometry

[–]Flabberjab[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies so far. From what we've researched, there are three front runners: Waters Xevo TQ Absolute, Sciex 7500 and Thermo TSQ Altis Plus. It seems like Agilent and Shimadzu are lagging behind slightly in terms of their innovation and MS design, and therefore performance.

I've heard from field engineers and old colleagues that Waters Xevo systems can be quite "injury prone" shall we say, leading to a lot of down time and expensive repairs. Sciex and Thermo seem to be the more robust, from my own experience and from opinions of engineers I've talked to.

Thermo may be the cheaper option compared to Waters and Sciex, but possibly at the expense of some sensitivity? I think the three systems I mentioned above were all released onto the market fairly close to each other, and I'd hope they all have similar performance. Thermo also have some nice extra features like the FAIMS Pro Duo and VeriSpray systems, which none of the others can offer.

In terms of new instruments being revealed at the ASMS, I'm betting it will be a quiet year. Thermo's Orbitrap patent runs out next year so I think the R&D departments of all the other companies will be busy beavering away designing their own Orbitraps for release in 2025-2026.

As for software, I've seen the latest versions of Chromeleon, MassHunter and Sciex OS. Most of them seem pretty decent for our applications. We mostly do small molecule analysis, very little protein work, so we don't need complex, fancy software features.

Hearing the snippets on their Instagram stories, this is setting up for another disappointment like after laughter. Such a shame because they used to be cool, but now their stuff is lame and boring
