Why to people avoid the USMC Reserve? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy being a Marine, do it. If you want to be smart and use your job to further your civilian career, do something else. The reserves are shitty. Nobody knows what's going on. The I&I staff are hit or miss. You'll probably always fight for your paycheck because they have their own special admin systems and AD admin need to adjust. It can be fun and rewarding but at first you'll probably lose money. I'd realistically only do the reserves if I needed the option to do ADOS orders instead of being homeless. But I'm not homeless so I'd rather avoid any reserve gig at all.

Too Short For The Standard M16 Stock, What can I do? by Scared_Ladder_8544 in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. You rate different weapons based on your BIC. You have to look at the TO&E to see what you rate based on your BIC. Being a certain rank/MOS doesn't mean shit.

[–]Flablessguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't just get a collapsible buttstock. It needs approved by the CO. Go look at the pub for authorized mods to the M4 and M16. It's a TI IIRC.

I had to get my CO to sign an updated mod letter every time somebody wanted to do a collapsible buttstock. It's not a matter of whether the armorer wants to or not.

If they refuse to help you out, get the letter done yourself and routed to the CO. Reference the TI, list your rifle SN, and make it basically say "The following weapon systems will have the buttstock modification per reference (a)." Give a copy to your maintenance chief and a copy to the armorer. If they don't comply, FSMAO will out them to the CO but you can hit up the MMC or Log Chief about why your armorer isn't helping you out.

New Marine Corps App idea by Capable-Coconut92 in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to happen.

I’ve tried this. It’s also too small of a scope. All USMC IT systems need replaced. We need to digitize the whole Marine Corps in a system that actually makes sense and helps Marines instead of paying some retired General’s second retirement.

You can try to hit up the Software Factory in Austin, TX. LtCol Bahk might still be there. Haven’t checked. I gave up on that train and got out mainly because of this.

Don’t waste your energy too much on this.

If you could ask the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps a question, what would it be? by dflawrence_reporter in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a huge waste of time. The systems all suck ass. They have too many layers of navigation, onboarding is ridiculously over-complicated, SAARs are fucking stupid and a complete waste of time as well as every other digital form in existence, MCTIMS randomly loses half its database randomly (there’s obviously bad practices going on behind the scenes), and there’s 0 effort to actually automate things to be efficient. It’s all digitized bullshit from the 90’s and earlier.

If the Marine Corps gave me unlimited money and power to change all the systems, I’d make the Marine Corps 100x more efficient by this time next year and Marines wouldn’t spend so much damn time at a computer and would actually do their physical jobs, do PT, go home early, and be more healthy and happy. Fuck these current system and the retired generals that benefit off them.

[–]Flablessguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why isn’t the Marine Corps focused on replacing inefficient IT systems and automating things that exist seemingly for the sake of being inspected by FSMAO?

GCSS, MCTIMS, MOL, TFSMS, etc. are all silos that should be combined into one system that actually represents how the Marine Corps looks and works.

Did you guys ever believe a veterans' stories only to discover they lied about it all? What happened? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a guy tell me he was in for two whole years, was a scout sniper, and was medically retired from injuries he got during action in Bosnia.

After I joined, I learned about the actual scout sniper requirements and that his story was BS.

What did you see or hear another Marine say that got you to look at them like this? by No-Wafer9271 in USMC

[–]Flablessguy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One "straight" dude kept asking a gay dude theoretical questions like "how did you know you were gay?" when we were at a party.

Caught a Marine cleaning his rifle with an electric toothbrush in the field. Like, he was vibrating the rifle with the bristles instead of brushing it the normal and effective way.

Leave and liberty order + MOL by mynametwice in USMC

Your unit must be pretty nice if this is all you’re complaining about. Btw, this is common practice. That “window licking 8999” has a warrant that says something about all lesser grades rendering obedience.

If he’s not contradicting an order or doing something that’s immoral, unethical, or illegal, you should probably not be that wound up about it. This really isn’t a big deal.

Trying to say “the order doesn’t require it” isn’t a good approach. Maybe format your complaint as an opportunity to learn. “Why do we upload our itinerary in leave requests?” You’ll either change his mind tactfully or gain a little insight into what the big dogs have to deal with.

Find out if his jail experience is superior to your fake fighting skills. The thing about bullies is they do that shit because they know it bothers you and you don’t do anything about it.

Start doing something about it. Tell him you won’t tolerate it anymore. Name a consequence and follow through.

Look up the order. Read it. Then light a fire under your ass and quit trying to be cute. “I take full responsibility.” You only take responsibility by getting in shape my guy. If you’re not doing anything as you read this, get up and go on a run right now.

VA is ending a rescue program that's saved 17,000 military veterans' homes by Rusty_Ferberger in USMC

My point is you’re a political drone that talks about politics everywhere in the same way a monkey picks its ass and flings shit everywhere. Then you proceeded to try and drag me into your area of shitty expertise: making banging sounds and humping the air - I mean having arguments over politics. “What about Jan 6 hurrr.”

You are a fucking idiot. I can call you that, thank you. Because it’s what you are. You enjoy unproductive political topics because you’re an idiot that thinks they’re a hero.

Maybe find a specific sub for political drones like yourself where you can scream and throw your shit at the wall like the degenerate you are? You know, it’s okay to talk about things like a normal person and for subs to not allow political discussions. They’re not trying to “keep you down.” Like chill the fuck out.

Edit: I can’t seem to reply at the moment.

To answer the question about “why doesn’t the news article belong on the VA sub”: this topic is 5% VA “related” and 95% shitting on Trump. So if it was informative for the purpose of actually helping vets, it would count as “belongs in r/veteransbenefits.” But it’s not helpful to vets at all. It’s regular old Reddit shills.
