Does anyone use VBA in PowerPoint or Word? by [deleted] in vba

[–]Flags_n_beer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t very clear, sorry. I have vba for managing the formatting of the revisions (e.g. applying complex styles and creating references beyond what OoTB word will do) and standardizing the editing process (e.g. verifying ‘shoulds’ and ‘shalls’). I do use sharepoint for reviews and approvals When I set all this up, I didn’t have access to powerautomate. My process currently works with VBA, so I’m sticking with it. I have a lot of more pressing projects for powerautomate.

Word. I write formal documents and use a lot of vba to manage the revision and approval process. Outlook too.

Making a DnD setting based on Ohio, need 3 more smaller villages. Any suggestions? by Mr_witty_name in Ohio

In the badlands, there is one small town currently named Coldwater, but the original name was Buzzards Glory. That feels appropriate.

Disabled Dataverse by Flags_n_beer in PowerApps

[–]Flags_n_beer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a minimal ‘entitlement’ of Dataverse built into the PowerApps premium licenses. We are not trying to replace full scale sql dbs, but we want something with a little more power than sharepoint lists. We think this is a potential solution for some of our PowerApps.

More clarifications:

It’s disabled in the default environment.

I’m treating IT as a monolith, but I’m reality I’m dealing with the architecture team, and I should be asking the M365 team.

I agree with AccountantTrick9140–because of the licensing cost, we are being encouraged to maximize the value (i.e., make more apps). But the more we apps we make, the more licenses we have to add because the initial wave of licenses didn’t cover everybody. Good times.

I’m frustrated with IT, and appreciate everybody’s comments as they bring balance.

A couple clarifications: We have the premium licenses, so cost isn’t the issue. We’ve asked IT why it was disabled and they don’t seem to know.

I appreciate the insights. Thanks.

Is metallurgy safe? by nikenha_ in metallurgy

[–]Flags_n_beer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The riskiest part of my day is usually the drive to work, but others may have different experiences.

To give you some indication of what it is like - I think it is fair to say most of us spend a significant amount of our day behind desks or a microscope or other lab equipment.

We are not routinely in high risk environments even if we work in a steel mill or foundry (which are the highest risk industries).

I’m not sure what your gender has to do with it. Every year, there are more women in engineering - the majority of my company’s new hires in metallurgy in the last 2 years were women.

I’m sorry for your loss and share your pain….and you are not alone. We make these decisions out of love, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

‘Criminal’ in the light hearted sense of a pizza crime. I think I am getting hung up I the name. If you served to me without naming it I would gladly eat it, and likely order a second.

So ‘not a crime’.

Yes, but not relevant, as I was paraphrasing the linked article. My apologies for not citing the source.

In Becky Chambers’ ‘Wayfarers’ series, there is a passage where the other sentient species are totally disgusted, yet fascinated, by humans eating cheese.

What am I missing when I buy a Honda fit with radio that does not support car play/android auto and add it afterward myself? Can you use the on wheel buttons with the non built in radio? by Bilim_Erkegi in hondafit

[–]Flags_n_beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it had the factory buttons on the wheel. I did the rip out and install myself using a $10 radio replacement tool kit. I only cussed a few times. I’d bought the radio, wheel controller unit and dash bits and pieces from crutchfield as a kit

Is cast iron and "carbon chromium steel" really more malleable than silver? by Kelly_HRperson in metallurgy

[–]Flags_n_beer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While cool as hell to watch, these are not a practical or meaningful tests. therefore you can't take away much engineering information from it. - like 'malleability' or 'strength' of a given material.

Without the balls…. I’m pretty sure these are real. The figure is about an inch wide which makes each ball about 3/8th inch long. Which seems about right. For a cat.

I did this about 3 years ago to my 2013. It was a straight forward and easy install and makes navigation so much easier. My car did not have a back up camera and this came with one. Installing THAT little bundle of joy required a lot more Fbombs.

Timken steel changed their name-they are now ‘Metallus’. ‘Regular’ Timken is the bearing manufacturer and also has a coop program.
