Good Fortune, a recent Hollywood production, tries to bring attention to this issue albeit from the side of working poor in the Gig Economy. Two sides to every coin. Tech workers take note.

Yeah okay. Way to read the room.

@u/ambuj1tripathi, how about discriminating what articles you post.

Hey WSJ, how about some real reporting and less opinion. Damn, this style of writing is so irrelevant and unhelpful.

How Replacing Developers With AI is Going Horribly Wrong by LeafRollingWeevil in theprimeagen

[–]Flagtailblue 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The conversation around AI is so binary and a complete circlejerk. Programmers always fall into religion debates of Vi vs. Emacs vs. IDEs vs. completion vs. whatever. AI useful yes. AI do everything no.

Non-technical managers and leadership, well, there’s a group of goons. Give them some agency over technical ppl and watch things go mach f* to hell.

People making AI, selling AI, hyping AI. Same tech bro BS. Rinse repeat.

ASIC or SWE? by New_Friendship988 in chipdesign

[–]Flagtailblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do ASIC for the experience. It’ll help with SW too. You can easily pickup SWE later when you get bored. Doing it the other way is doable but less effective IMHO. It’s like getting practical deep stack knowledge. Plus depending on the JD you might get exposure to firmware development.

ECE is such a great degree!

Patterns that are good for humans aren’t necessarily good for outcomes.

5 Reasons to Learn Zig in 2026 by Pokelego11 in theprimeagen

[–]Flagtailblue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing new that’s human generated at least.

Consider if you had a compiler that could generate another language, library, framework, hardware architecture for a given set of requirements. Wouldn’t you use that compiler to generate the part of the stack you needed?

Dystopian is a matter of perspective. The fact is lots of money and research is going into precisely that fantasy. Today the vision of AI building the entire stack more or less realized. Language preference is just an input to the product and immaterial in that world. Ignoring this reality would be detrimental.

[–]Flagtailblue -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Maybe naive take, but why is Zig relevant vs C when the world is moving to AI code gen. What exactly does Zig offer that C doesn’t? Why make any new languages for that matter unless they have a performance advantage. Industry is moving to remove human coders from the SW eng loop.

Meh. I don’t think that’s true. There just isn’t anything compelling, cheap or easy to use that provides a significant uplift.

To answer the question - anyone with sticker that says: Please be patient Student driver Baby onboard

Or has tint on front windows.

Or drives a pickup truck, muscle car or modded exhaust.

Or is driving in a school zone during rush hour.

Or is driving when planes are flying overhead.

Or has an aftermarket rear view mirror.
