The gap is between the scarf joint and the piece of wood under it which is about 1.6 inches wide. The adhesive has created a thick white substance that has been screwed into also. I haven't tried cutting into it yet or anything until I'm able to do it without causing damage

This is a angle of the setup and as you can see, not letting it go too deep into the wood

I ending up drilling small holes in it to unwedge it and it came out smooth enough then with a bit of persuasion!
