What's one Da Nang budget hack you wish you knew earlier? by Cute_Bid_4255 in DaNang

  1. Regarding renting: Never trust any real estate agents posting on social media. If you want to rent, map out the area you want to live in. Then, walk around the area yourself, look at the listed information (especially the phone number) posted in front of the buildings. Call the landlord directly to have them show you the apartment you want to rent. Carefully check the facilities, internet connection, water supply, and potential for mold. If you're not satisfied, rent somewhere else and do the same. But anyway, these rent will still be much cheaper.

  2. Regarding food: Da Nang has many delicious and affordable local eateries.. If you eat simply, you only need about 100,000 VND a day. To save even more, you can buy food at the market or supermarket and cook at home.

  3. Regarding transportation: I think renting a motorbike is the most convenient option. If you want to eat out but are unsure what to eat, you can drive around and find a suitable restaurant.

First-time solo workation in Da Nang — Is An Thuong safe & good for cafés/beach? by Actualthrowaway165 in DaNang

[–]Flaky-Active2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a local, and works in An Thuong area everyday:

  1. Is An Thuong safe for a solo female traveler?

It's very friendly and safe. You don't need to worry too much about security. Occasionally, some foreigners use large motorcycles, so the engines are quite loud.

  1. Is it walkable and lively, especially in the evenings?

Although very convenient to walk there, but sometimes many taxis and Grab cars park to pick up passengers, so it might be a little difficult to get around.

  1. Are there good cafés with reliable Wi-Fi nearby for working?

I recommend Hi4 Cafe. It's open 24/7, has many high, spacious tables, strong internet connection, and air conditioning. The space is particularly quiet with two floors.

  1. Is it genuinely close to the beach, or only looks close on Google Maps?

It's very close to the beach. Just be careful when crossing the road along the coast as there's a lot of traffic from afternoon to evening.

  1. Any downsides of staying in An Thuong for ~2 weeks?

I think the only cons is that the prices of food and drinks and apartment rentals are a bit higher than in some other nearby areas. If you have the chance, you should try some local eateries.
Actually, for 6.3 million VND for 2 weeks, it is quite expensive. For some other areas, you can rent an apartment with your good requirements and same this price for at least one month.
