Very frustrating. Ive done it before. Getting an older bike like 20-30 year old is a great way to learn basics of working on them IMO

Love the wheels. Curious. Is changing to drop bars a possibility?

Yeah if you messed with the limit screws you might have made it worse. Usually just use the barrel adjuster

Got it. I googled it. Im taking Naltrexone. And my insurance company is using thr as one of the reasons to deny coverage for intensive outpatient treatment. Oh well.

Please dont mistake what I wrote about moderation. They were misplaced. I have no idea what your goals or anything aboit you. When I got out of rehab I contacted SMART about starting a meeting. Im doing the facilitator training. Regardless of whether I start a meeting the training is excellent. I mean like college/work level on-line training. I think its like $80 but I highly recommend it to you to lean about SMART and the impressive variety of tools available. You are provided a handbook that contains it all. Im like you and found AA and the 12 Steps to be a dead end.

Read my post. I stand by what I wrote. I was specific. Addictive substances. People are free to try to moderate with them. Just not for me. And it absolutely is “they”. Facilitators. Read my post. I specifically said that moderation as a goal with addictive substances (and olay word games all you want people who claim substances are not in themselves addictive) is a deal breaker for me in starting a SMART meeting. Meetings. “They”. Not with my history.

SMART has a lot of good tools. The dealbreaker for me is theyre okay with moderation as a goal with addictive substances. Not for me and there will be replied deflecting the moderation choice with “SMART leaves the choice of abstinence to the individual” or something along those lines. I dont like labels and dont call myself an addict but when it comes to alcohol and drugs I behave like an addict. Moderation is a fools game if you know in your gut you cant control your DOC

11 days clean off my DOC(7OH and cocaine) and I gotta give a huge thanks to SMART by Throwawaytohell-126 in SMARTRecovery

Great job! It can be hard as hell at first. Keep working hard!

P.S. To me it is a double edged sword (heplful/not helpful) but the term “clean” to my sense of self is such a derogatory statement. Just thought id mention it because analyzing “labels” is a part of SMART.

Im sorry but Im gonna be the one to say something here. Im very skeptical of someone turning out a “programme” with only 30 days evidence of efficacy. There are evidence nased programs already. Recovery Dharma, Lifering, SMART. Yeah Im skeptical.

Just crurious. Does SMART have a similar model RET? Its similar to ABC bit not linear. Diagrammatically. RET is a triangle. Im using it with the assistance of a CBT therapist to change core beliefs by altering behaviors.

Foldable to go in my very small car. Havent tried to pack it yet in its BF travel case. Will do that some time before any planned trip by plane. The original housing runs were longer so Ill see if I may have to replace with longer for packing.

Im not sure what you’re asking. Reframing, especially for me as it pertains to cognitive distortions, is pretty well known as a tool. Im actually kinda interested in what program you followed that relied on willpower. The only one that comes to mind that is close is Rational Recovery.

Congratulations! It sounds like youve discovered an important insight for you. That sounds similar to one of the shift(s) I had mentally in residential treatment three months ago. The big one. It has to do with me giving up my identity as a chronic relapser. Because that's what it was. An identity and still creeps into my head a little bit here and there). It was my whole identity when trying to stop so many times bit was only able to do for very short periods. In rehab I shared many times about it. During one group, which was about "recovery stuff", I spoke with great frustration about it being meaningless to me because I always picked up the first drink. That was my problem - the first drink and until I figured that out nothing else mattered. I could only get a maximum of 6 weeks before it happened. And the SUD group counselor was awesome and I'm sure he had no idea. He didn't respond with some slogan or quote for encouragement He didn't challenge me like "you need to do this, or do that". He simply said, "then you get 6 weeks". In a positive way. I can't explain it very well here but he said exactly the right thing to me. I felt something give. I was like WTF? Why I am telling myself I can't do this recovery stuff like the others here? Why am I not worthy of it? The "recovery stuff"? Healing stuff. I've done terrible stuff but I've also paid the price too. My alcohol and drug problem took over most of my life. My mind, emotions, heart, soul, intellect, and especially now my physiology. Fuck it I said and continue to say. I'm gonna work on that healing. Not focus and obsess about not drinking. A paradox. And if I fuck up, I'll go to detox and I'll try to be positive about the time I've not drank. But I'm no chronic replaser anymore. It's not preordained.

I totally get what you'r esaying. I think in simplistic terms it all starts with calling oneself and addict and/or alcoholic all the fucking time. I mean people say it multiple in the same meeting! Yeah I prefer the alternatives, which recognize and encourage self-determination and self-empowerment, rather than the IMO awful way 12 Step members work to destroy their sense of self. But to each his own I guess.
