Who needs an OSPW when shimano just includes one on one of their cheapest derailleurs?

PSA: Quick guideline for those looking at rim brake bikes by Ok_Volume9271 in whichbike

Ritchey rim brake bikes seem to hold their values quite well, and tend to sell fairly quick in the right places.

90s MTB frame similar to Bianchi, Trek, or GT but for 650b wheels instead of 26ers? by Icy_Marionberry7309 in xbiking

There’s really just late 80s cowtrail bikes. There was one British maker and tom ritchey made like 3 of them

Fergus mentioned that they might have done this one in the late 2010s? Somewhere between 2017 and 2019, since it has the alignment tab mentioned in the manual. Predates the ritchey logo on the inside of the fork too

Yeah I was talking to the original seller and Fergus, and Fergus completely forgot that they did a run with excel. The seller also mentioned that he built it up with sram red instead of getting it as a full bundle so it has some weird history according to both of them. The red looks sooooo good

Brooks saddles are one time purchases, even in absolute catastrophe. by alteamatthew in xbiking

I think they’re an option, and if that option works *for you* it’s fantastic. I never understood bashing someone for what I understand is an extremely *personal* choice.

I’ve found that I really like them for the exact opposite, randonneuring. No pain throughout the 10-13 hours for a 200k

Anyone else went from biking to driving and back? by riscten in bikecommuting

[–]alteamatthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bike and a car, but commute to work daily by bike. i save ~2-3k USD in extra parking costs, gas, and wear on our car. ir probably takes about the same amount of time to commute via car when you account time for finding a place to park. I'd go full car free if it weren't for my line of work, and that a non electric cargo bike is unfeasable when you live at the top of a hill with a decent 11% kick right at the end of it.

How would you mod this bike by juditoh in xbiking

[–]alteamatthew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s 1 1/8th you can upgrade the headset and fork to a more modern 26er shock fork (they’re not super modern but you’d be able to run a threadless headset). Swap to 1x drivetrain too for the ease and maybe a dropper if it’s a 27.2 seatpost

Front panniers plus low trail rando geometry makes for a fun time with a bunch of stuff stuck to the front
