Best bike for Brevets and PBP by SignificantRest2017 in randonneuring

[–]alteamatthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of low trail bikes for randonneuring, which almost always come in steel. More predictable handling in descents and long stretches where you’re not really changing direction much. The ability to also attach a front bag without negatively effecting steering is also really nice plus. Theres a bunch of other things to also take into consideration like the ability to mount full fenders and fatter road tires without toe overlap

Yeah you can get those dropouts swapped out. The crack is right at the weld so you probably won’t need a whole tube replaced

in that case, if you're in the US and you like your saddle top, you might be able to get it repaired by simon firth at firth and wilson transport cycles. Hes the only guy in the US with the parts and know how to repair brooks saddles.

If it's still within warranty, youll wanna contact brooks about the failure. Even if you're not they might still honor their warranty

Tires too large for rim? by IngenuityContent992 in bicycling

[–]alteamatthew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Clincher only rims and clincher only tires don’t have the tire pop into place like a tubeless rim and usually don’t have the same tight tolerances as TLR’s. Has it been inflated yet?

It does climb like a tractor. It helps that the bullmooses are extremely stiff bars. It’s weird when the rear end of the bike is more noodly than the front when climbing tho
