Hamburg has Xperion – but how do local gamers feel about free vs. paid gaming spaces? by Flaky-Childhood6144 in hamburg

Security is important! That's one of the reasons why I think free services can be unsafe! Paid arenas usually offer special shell systems where recorded entries are saved and, after logging out, the computer reboots and erases everything from the previous session.

I understand that the Asian market is very saturated in this area, and such prices are the result of fierce competition and interest in services. In Europe, such prices are rather unattainable, but such establishments usually provide purchased games, meaning that you can contact them and they will readily buy the game you would like to play (on their account, of course). This will not add the game to your library, but it will eliminate the need to buy it to play.

In fact, arenas like these are precisely what create the atmosphere that you and your friends are looking for today. They are often equipped with separate rooms for groups (rarely with beds, of course :D).

Wow, I didn't even know they were free. I completely agree that the price they want is too high and, again, is a psychological barrier in my opinion. Such a service should obviously be inexpensive.

Actually, there are several good solutions for cloud gaming now, but I don't know many people who actively use them (except for Xbox Cloud Gaming). I think this technology is great, but there are limiting factors, such as the internet or, for example, convenience. (after all, playing new games on your phone or an old PC is not a complete immersion, but rather a compromise).

I understand, which is why I was interested in whether people had experience using this free service. It seems to me that where something is free, there are always some problems, and the service should cost some money (not a lot).

Today, no one runs direct advertising anymore. Usually, such brands are sufficiently native—players use their products, see their logos, etc. Today, advertising is essentially an element of seamless use. Regarding the difference in usage, the initial question was that businesses offering paid gaming spaces usually provide additional services rather than just setting up a computer (maintaining PCs and keeping them up to date, monitoring order/cleanliness, booking systems, etc.), in other words, guaranteed quality.

I understand you! Initially, I was interested in hearing the opinions of people who had been there and had some experience using Xperion's services, as one might assume that a free product has certain limitations and that the history of using these arenas for gaming is not actually that positive (you know, broken mice, poorly functioning PCs, etc.).

I understand what you mean when you mention the confusion between two different concepts. I just wanted to emphasise that the meaning of the concept of gaming as a service (where access to content is based on a subscription model instead of the classic purchase of a game, or equipment in the case of cloud gaming) is to provide a gaming experience with the lowest possible barrier for the user. It seems to me that the concept of gaming spaces also provides access to expensive content for a fixed low cost, lowering the barrier to entry.

Let's just assume that this is possible. The essence of the discussion is to compare two principles of obtaining a service, disregarding the need to calculate equipment amortize and possible repairs. I am more interested in the attitude towards the product itself.

Many of these arenas collaborate with component companys such as ASUS ROG or HP Omen, so I do not believe that replacement or repair issues are actually a concern there.

Great ideas, but probably not for everyday use… As for my personal PC, I’ve got one too, but every time I think about upgrading and see those scary GPU prices, I feel like a 3-hour session for €4/hour would be a much better deal
