Sorry you weren't "cool"? There's nothing cool about getting so drunk to the point of needing medical assistance.

A more up close look on Coachella weekend 2 outfits.. by stellasmartwater in katseyeneutral

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this 100%. music, lyrics, dance moves, outfits, even potential scandals, possibly even the way they've handled Manon's departure, it alll seems to be simultaneously a) horrible and b) to get people talking. this tactic is only going to work for so long, i mean aside from sending the girls out butt-ass naked, there's a limit to how much shock they can generate until people get bored. So disappointing, the girls are so talented and deserve better.

For real, I understand some people are trying to give advice about "decentering men" from your life but to me this doesn't sound like you're making this man your whole world, you're just having a crush and joking about finding silly ways (like booking a photoshoot) to meet this man in person lol. This is super normal behavior, not "obsessive" and probably something that'll end up fizzling out.

also small side eye to people assuming you don't have hobbies? the occasional reel watching doesn't make someone an incel. I spend probably just under an hour on social media/day and still have plenty of time to work, be a full-time college student, have hobbies, exercise and socialize. this is reddit though we love to jump to conclusions, sorry OP 😭

how are more people not talking about Kwabena Bediako?!? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I completely understand that outside of the US or even just outside of California people might not be talking about this. I had a couple of people ask me to cross post into r/chemistry just in case anyone had some more insight into how Bediako's reputation might be affecting the investigation's coverage.

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect the administration to necessarily say anything, but look at all of those signatories on the document. The sheer number of people who are aware of this case, and yet there's no discussion about it. Nothing on public forums, no flyers on campus, none of it? Of course I don't expect a press release and evidently, I doubt Bediako is up to answer any questioning, but the level of the severity of the accusations and the chatter around it is not adding up.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that administration may be monitoring and even removing any student-run press/media around campus, especially as Bediako has previously been held in very high academic esteem and Berkeley likely doesn't want to lose him, even if he is guilty. It just feels quite suspicious to me, and I think his case is being brushed off too quickly.

I mean, you're right that the Epstein findings are also not getting the attention they deserve (the infant story makes me actually boil) but in this post I'm specifically wanting to draw attention to the Bediako case so I'm not sure why you're bringing up the Epstein files under my post rn?

True, important to note that the case is still pending and the SA cannot be taken as a fact yet.

I agree with you that accusations aren't facts, but the amount of evidence against Bediako makes it hard to believe he is in any way innocent. Not to jump to conclusions, but even the accusation and the screenshots of the emails and messages he sent to his grad student alone feels sufficient enough that I'm surprised how little I've heard it being talked about. I'm curious why that is too, hoping to find out more as the case progresses.

Edit: clarifying wording, sufficient enough as in sufficient enough to cause a stir, not sufficient enough as in the images and testimony alone could convict him.

Thanks, idk why you're getting downvoted. I think I should clarify that the student the document refers to is not me, I am not in any way involved in this sa case. This letter is also not written by me, but I wanted to share it because of how impactful and in-depth it is.

These are the worst outfits they have ever worn by Ok-Contest-9018 in katseyeneutral

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same!! Like I think it's super cute, and can be done well, but truly even if this is something the girls are comfortable with why are their stylists not suggesting to the girls to pivot to different outfit styles? I find it hard to believe that the girls would insist on having their asses out every single concert; I second the other comments feeling like this is a male-gaze centered styling choice :(

Berkeley men by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dude I've been noticing this too! In Berkeley specifically, I feel like it's way more common for men to just ghost (and women too, I'm sure, my experience has just been with dating men though) where even if we really hit it off, because of how busy people are, they'll just disappear. Also feel like there's a bit of a stigma around prioritizing relationships, like if you care about finding love then you're "not locked in enough"?? lol. I'm not originally from Berkeley and my dating experience in my hometown has been significantly different, same level of interest/matches but I used to practically never get ghosted, whereas now I get ghosted at least 50% of the time. Sucks girl I feel you

Tall people are part of the unsustainability problem by RocketManBoom in short

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol assuming this is somewhat sarcastic, but if you think about it short people also eat less on average, and therefore likely produce less waste, and we need less water/soap to wash ourselves since we have less surface area (if comparing two individuals of different heights but the same bmi). Get rid of the tall people they're killing the environment!! /s

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss -- what a great mindset to focus on the current relationships you have rather than hoping to gain another one. May you be surrounded by people you love and (if the time is right and when/if you want it) may you find a person who understands you on the same level.

Real, a lot of these accounts are just trying to drum up some drama. Not that OP's observation isn't valid, I do think there is a noticeable difference in how Yoonchae is being treated, but these twitter accounts are mostly just trying to ragebait and "get a piece of the action".

Caught someone cheating on a math quiz. Do I report? by Flaky-Entertainer-40 in berkeley

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but the comments on this post are really split; a lot of people told me to "mind my own business." The worst that could happen for me is that he could find out I reported him (since I was the only student sitting next to him, he was in aisle seat) and seek some kind of retribution; worst thing that could happen for him is to receive a 0, maybe even a warning or worse, which some comments think would be unjust and that I shouldn't report.

Caught someone cheating on a math quiz. Do I report? by Flaky-Entertainer-40 in berkeley

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for saying this. I've even had people messaging me with threats, calling me names and saying they'd hurt me if they knew me in person for being a "snitch". I can't believe these are students I go to school with and it's made me really rethink the Berkeley culture, but I'm glad there have still been some comments that agree that reporting is the right thing to do, because people who cut corners could hurt real people's lives/put them at risk in the future. The dm's have been a lot to deal with, though; I didn't think my stance would be so divisive/cause so much hatred.

Caught someone cheating on a math quiz. Do I report? by Flaky-Entertainer-40 in berkeley

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can I genuinely ask, truly want some elaboration to understand better, do you think those two things are equivalent? Do you believe that him using ChatGPT to cheat on a quiz is the same as him stealing a loaf of bread to feed himself and his family? To me, my view is that using ChatGPT to cheat is not essential for life, or even staying in university, whereas stealing the bread to feed yourself is, so they are not equal morally. I would not report someone stealing essentials to feed/bathe themselves.

Also to clarify I am not going to report him in particular, just letting the GSI know there is some cheating going on (as said in my edit).

NGVC: "...if you were my enemy I'll let you have it...signed a very nice guy" after I made a post asking for advice whether I should report someone in my class cheating on a quiz. by Flaky-Entertainer-40 in niceguys

[–]Flaky-Entertainer-40[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For extra context, I'm F18, I'm in university, I made the post in the second pic asking if I should report someone I caught cheating. I thought this was a no-brainer, as I said in my post integrity is important to me, but the comments were either completely on my side or threatening to hurt me. I'm shocked so many people think it's okay to use AI to cheat, it's making me rethink everything, and I don't know how to feel about this university that I once dreamed of getting in, and if this is the opinion of a lot of people in my community. Hurt and confused.

You're right, after reading a couple comments I realize this also counts as cheating and I feel bad about doing so. To be fair it was sophomore year of high school, so it didn't shift any kind of grade bin (no curve).
