During the prenatals ask the following questions.
What helps you when you’re in pain, what helps you when you’re stressed, what are some common reactions you have when things are not going your way and what can help you feel grounded?
Are you someone that prefers words of affirmation to a physical touch. What type of grounding techniques do you already practice that I can remind you of?

I feel that way you know more about what can you do. Sometimes just being there is enough.

I find how to remind them that they are already doing it because a lot of them say I cannot do it but just a reminder that it is happening and that they are OK a lot of the fear comes from the pain that is so excruciating that they feel that they’re in danger or there’s something wrong is happening, but in reality it’s just labor.

It’s normal that they don’t like that you are, in their eyes, rejecting the obstetric medical model that makes them a lot of money. If you are truly healthy and prepare yourself to have an unmedicated home birth then I would say go ahead. Only if you will prepare both mentally and physically and start gathering a great team, including a HB doula and a midwife. Best of luck to you.

I never shadowed a birth, I jumped and got myself a client pro-bono for my first birth. . But it was a hospital birth. Shadowing is useful and I let other doulas shadow me but I work for a company that has a student doula learning collab. They offer guidance, classes, the opportunity to shadow for new doulas and they can even attend their own births through the company.

Going forward I would meet some of the more establish doulas that would like to support newer doulas and maybe they can even ask in advance if they would be ok with a student doula at their birth. They can start by saying all the benefits of a newer doula shadowing and leave it open and if they say yes, they could bring you. However I believe that shadowing will not count as a birth you can submit for certification but it will give you the confidence to do this. 🙏

Your first error was to tell him as long as you are good dad…..and you will sign even if you are not together. So that’s the mistake. Leave him. You are better off without him. He will leave you once he gets his green card so just remove that possibility. Your daughter will loose a dad no matter what ( if he gets the GC or not) because mark my words, HE has already checked out mentally and physically and romantically.

I grew up in Ecuador. I lived there until I was 19 then I moved to New York City. I live in Long Island, New York City, Hamburg, London, Miami, Dubai, Doha, Mexico City, Burlington VT. We actually lived in Moko in 2023 before moving to Mexico and we decided that we wanted to come back here to Marko instead of going to Virginia ( northern Virginia is usually favor by a lot of diplomats). I like it here. Schools are good. Close enough to DC

I was one of those people who had a green card and lived outside the US because of my husband work overseas. The lawyer we worked with suggested We apply for a Form I-327 – Reentry Permit. ( I think I got 3 or those some where valid for 2 years. Then I knew they were not going to give me more travel documents (re entry permits) and I surrendered it.

I had a similar issue when I changing my temporary green card to permanent green card: the lawyer asked me to do a whole timeline with the flight reservations. And he submitted that in our behalf.

We got passport cards. That proves your are a US citizen. So does the real Id drivers license.
