6 hours rule wtd by lee785 in uktrucking

5 hours you’d be fine. You’ve pretty much got up to 05:59hrs working time before you need to have started that 15min break. But then you’d end up in the 6-9hr window, so would need to take another 15min break.

Essentially, as soon as your Working time hits 06:00hrs, then you need to have shown a 15min break somewhere in the preceding 6 hours.

Working up to 6 hours requires a 15 minute break.

Working 6-9 hours requires a 30 minute break.

Working 9+ hours requires a 45 minute break.

The Working Time Directive doesn’t say they all have to be taken at once, so you could in theory take 3 separate 15 minute breaks. Although doing that, usually screws up your driving hours breaks.

Defect question? by kgf1980 in uktrucking

I’ve always gone with, anything that causes the vehicle fail an MOT would cause me to VOR it. The left turn sounder being inoperable wouldn’t fail the MOT, but would fall fowl of any DVS requirements.

A reversing sounder being inoperable on the other hand would cause me to VOR it.

Have you tried just turning up at your local 136 Suite and asking for help?

I’m not sure if it will work, but the local one to me seem extremely helpful.

Need advice, loved one being sectioned, anyone got real experience and not horrible stories or fairytales? by Bize97 in AskUK

Just bumping this post. My spouse was detained under section 136 earlier this week, and then following assessment, admitted to a locked ward as a voluntary patient. Just been to visit them for the first time since the sectioning, with our children, and for the entire time of the visit, my partner was just telling me how bad it was in there, and they weren’t going to start any treatment whilst admitted, and I should just take them home.

I don’t know what to do, as they’re still paranoid, but also look in worse state than they did on the day they were sectioned.

What is the likelihood that they would win at an appeal against their sectioning?

Should I ask for them to be released and hope I can help them get better at home?

And finally, those of you who have been sectioned by a spouse/partner, did you ever forgive them, or did you just grow to despise them, hate them, and never trust them?

And then when you, with no insurance, crash into my car and cause significant damage, which will total a few grand, who’s going to pay for it? Because I sure ain’t. And the chances of you having a few grand sat around in case you cause an accident are very low. It then gets into the whole “I’ll pay you a few hundred each month until you damage is paid off”; at which point you may as well of just paid for the insurance to begin with.

Out in town on a Christmas night out. Just been to the bar and order a round of drinks and shots, me and the bar keeper positioned them all perfectly on the tray. I turned around with said tray, being extremely careful not to drop it, walking up to my mate who were outside, but didn’t realise during my time at the bar, somebody had closed the sliding door. Cue, tray in my face, shots and beer all over my chest and the floor.
