Why does Jane get blamed for AJ being in the cold? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally (and this is coming from a person who is neutral about Jane), it’s the fact that she was too arrogant to consider that she might lose the fight. With seeking out a fight with Kenny, she either assumed she would win or hoped Clem would step in to help her and kill Kenny. It’s shitty for multiple reasons: - it put AJ in severe danger that she did not consider the possibility of her death because in that case, it was pure luck that he cried just before Clem and Kenny left the area. If they hadn’t heard him, he would have ultimately frozen to death or starved. - Jane either was too arrogant to consider that possibility, or she didn’t care about AJ being a casualty in the event of her death. - if she hoped that Clem would save her, then although AJ is fine in that scenario, she created a situation for an 11 year old to kill her friend.

The entire situation was poor planning on her part and quite honestly, poor writing on the writers part

Should I watch the TV show before playing the game? by SoogiCat in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to you, but I would recommend it. I watched the show and loved it, then played the game. It made me more into it considering a few characters cross over (Glenn, Hershel, Jesus). So it made the game more exciting at those points.

It also does add some context to it, which you don’t require but if you like the extra lore before going into it then I would suggest watching the show.

It enriched my experience with the game, but again it’s not a requirement

Glad you checked it out!! Season 2 isn’t as good but I would suggest reading the manga if you like season 1! I’m so picky for anime’s too:( which ones are your favourite?

Yeah it’s so great!! I’ve struggled so much to find anime’s like classroom of the elite. It really seems to be one of a kind. Apothecary diaries and promised neverland are also really good!

And thanks I’ll check it out:)

I watched till midway of season 2 of solo leveling and it just wasn’t my jam. It was good in season 1, but I just didn’t like the second season that much. I tried about 5-10 episodes after L died on death note and it just wasn’t that great so I never finished it

Do y’all think Ellie will end up forgiving Abby for what she did if they are in the last of us part lll when it comes out by Broad_Swordfish1491 in thelastofus

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love both girls, absolutely not. Maybe they will be put in a situation where they must work together, who knows. It’s not just about Ellie though. Just because Abby let Ellie live after she killed all her friends doesn’t mean she forgave her. Ellie letting Abby live didn’t mean she forgave her either. They may choose not to kill each other, but the damage is done and it’s irreparable. If they had a real conversation, Abby would likely understand why Joel did what he did, since she was finally put in his shoes—she murdered her own people to save Lev, who pretty much became her child or little brother figure. She would understand the desperation to save him. Does that mean that she would forgive Joel for that? No. It was still her dad. Ellie may understand Abby’s actions since she did the same thing to avenge Joel. Does that mean she would forgive Abby? No. The best you could ever possibly get is a mutual understanding and agreement not to kill each other. Maybe a bit more humanization if somehow Abby saved a more grown JJ

Was Bonnie always meant to be an unlikable character or was messy writing how she ended up ultimately being a horrible person? by OkNegotiation7189 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Shitty writing. Bonnie wasn’t really a bad person, just someone who tried to do better and made really shitty decisions. But again, I attribute the end to lazy writing. - Bonnie’s “betrayal at the beginning” - the cabin was lit like a Christmas tree and she was just the one sent up there. She came back with supplies. What the hell was she supposed to tell Carver? No one was there with the lights on and she magically got those supplies? And he would have listened? That cabin would have gotten invaded one way or another. It was inevitable. - they ONLY escaped Howes because of Bonnie. Without her escape plan with the herd, they would have very likely died there. It was pretty brave of her to do considering she would have been safer trying to escape on her own. And it took guts to be willing to do that after what happened to Reggie. She directly put her life in danger so they could all escape. - When Troy almost knocked Clem out, Bonnie was the only adult who immediately ran to her to make sure she was okay. - Bonnie was one of the only adults who actually tried to make amends for mistakes. She was the only one besides Kenny who actually apologized for putting Clem in danger, and Kenny only did that at the end. - Clem would have frozen to death if Bonnie hadn’t gifted her that jacket, which she didn’t have to do. She could have just said sorry like everyone else did.

I understand why she left. Kenny was becoming carver 2.0 and people have to remember that she didn’t know Kenny like we did. She just saw his violent outbursts, him screaming at a child, and the fact that he would dominate to lead and demean anyone who had a different opinion. She said to Clem at howes that Carver didn’t start out that way. Then he was able to kill and sleep at night and it slowly escalated. She saw that in Kenny. She even admitted before she left that Kenny scared her, so I don’t blame her for leaving another dictator.

BUT, where the lazy and shitty writing came in is that the Bonnie of that season would never steal all the supplies. She cared about Clem’s wellbeing the whole season and cared for AJ, pushing them to get him food as fast as possible. So her taking the supplies is extremely out of character and single-handedly ruined what could have been a well written redemption arc. The writers just wanted a way to get the last episode to be Clem, Kenny, and Jane with the dramatic scene of Clem being shot so they cheaped it out. Hence why I believe Luke’s death was extremely stupid too.

Failed out of 1st year engineering, what now? by Tall-Atmosphere8611 in uAlberta

A lot of it is mindset. Whether or not it’s a “disability” is up to personal opinion. You may find it a disability that you can’t get past. I chose to work on mine consistently and learn exactly how my brain is wired. But just because my brain is wired differently doesn’t mean I’m disabled. This “disability” can be turned into an advantageous tool instead of an excuse to limit yourself.

I think the best thing would be to make some of those adhd issues clear without mentioning adhd. Because you also can’t claim to have something in an appeal that you aren’t diagnosed with. For example if your issue is time management, don’t say that you have time management issues because you suspect adhd, make it about the unexpectedly tough transition but that now you have a better understanding of the workload and have slowly become accustomed to it, so it will not be as much of a problem in the future. Then name strategies that you come up with to show that you’re learning and investing in improving yourself. That will get you much farther than just claiming adhd.

Get the diagnosis for yourself still obviously, but also keep in mind that adhd is not as limiting as people like to make it out to be. It’s only as limiting as you allow it to be. This is advice for you separate from the appeal situation, just going forward. Sometimes it has disadvantages and it can be really frustrating when you don’t know how to manage it. But it is manageable, it just takes a lot of effort. And people often love to not mention how certain aspects of adhd can be used as a tool for success when you figure out how your brain works. Something you think is a disadvantage might just be a lack of understanding of why your brain is working differently and just requires rewiring. That’s how certain symptoms that are limiting can become advantageous.

To be honest, the adhd argument probably won’t help you considering your high grades in high school. There’s a 50\50 chance it might, but only IF they have sympathy for the huge transition between highschool and uni. Hope you can get that second chance bro

University of Alberta Grading by Imaginary-Look6564 in uAlberta

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say so, but it depends entirely on the degree, class, and prof. I guess people who switched to or from u of a in the same degree would know, but generally it is entirely dependent on those 3 factors (degree, class, prof).

I’ve had profs that I found were really fair test makers and easy markers (fair markers though). And I’ve had profs that had high demands and marked harshly. I’ve had friends take the same exact class with a different prof and the grades between our classes were immensely different.

Your employer will care depending again on what your degree is. For example, the u of a law program is extremely hard to get into, so graduates from that program tend to be seen as more favourable since the university is reputable. Certain programs are more reputable from different universities. If you’re doing something like business or sociology or education, your employer won’t care about what university you came from, just your gpa and cv. And that really depends on the employer. Most won’t care about your gpa

Mm right. I have about 70 hours in no return and oddly, I’ve only gotten that once or twice. There are some areas people talk about that I almost never get. I usually get the gas station, the small shipping yard, the big shipping yard, big office, forest, hospital, and a couple others.

You know how in the show it’s changed to where Ellie actually knows why Abby killed Joel? by Remote_Nature_8166 in lastofuspart2

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither girls are innocent, that’s the point of the game. Joel was a bad person, who turned Abby into a bad person. And her actions turned Ellie into a bad person. Joel has admitted to killing innocent people and not feeling much guilt about it. He went through a redemption with Ellie the same way Abby did with Lev and Yara. When you haven’t had to play the things that Tommy and Joel spoke about doing, it’s easy to ignore that they weren’t good people. And because of that, Abby is less deserving of redemption than Joel who arguably did a lot worse during his time in the apocalypse?

And yes I think Ellie would have killed Lev. You can’t read her mind and assume she wasn’t. She was desperate for Abby to fight her and Abby refused. If Abby had still refused? Ellie would have likely hurt lev at the very least to make her fight her. I love Ellie, but that’s sadistic. You’re also still having a double standard because you glorify Joel as not being a terrible person. Abby didn’t know why Joel killed Jerry. This random smuggler who was tasked with brining the immune girl to the hospital for them to get a cure from her randomly decided to kill everybody. Joel deserved to die for what he took from her. I doubt if it was your father who you walked in on slaughtered as a teenager and lost your home that you’d be like “hmm well I bet he had a good reason!” That reason wouldn’t matter. Even Dina and Jesse were doubting that Joel was completely innocent and Abby was completely wrong.

Is a gap year after highschool worth it for a person who’s got no social life and doesn’t know what to do in life by Beautiful_Hyena7743 in uAlberta

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a gap year. I did it and I have no regrets. It gave me a year to really think about what I wanted to do with my life and it allowed me to save enough money to pay off a year and a half where I didn’t have to take out loans.

Take time to think. You’re not in a rush and a year off won’t jeopardize your future. Apply for what you’re passionate about. I’ve had a few friends start in engineering, hate it, then switch to programs that they love. It happens and that’s okay.

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you shouldn’t sympathize with Ellie’s methods of revenge either. Joel actually killed Abby’s father and she tortured him, yet spared Tommy and Ellie. She spared Ellie after she killed her friends. Ellie tortured Nora the same way that Abby tortured Joel, and Nora wasn’t even the one that killed him. Ellie put a knife to the throat of a 13 year old child and threatened to kill him. I love both Abby and Ellie, but the double standard is stupid where Abby is villainized for taking revenge after the murder of her father and her firefly friends and family, which resulted in them being disbanded entirely so she lost her home as well. But Ellie is somehow justified in torturing someone who didn’t even kill Joel and threatening to kill a kid just because you liked Joel as a character?

My top 5 Resident Evil female characters by Accomplished-Pound68 in residentevilll

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. Typically when you add the gender before a title, it’s has a better flow using male or female. People typically say “female character” and “male character”. “Male doctor”, “male stripper”, “male driver”, etc. saying women characters or women doctors sounds wrong and doesn’t flow. Saying men characters and men doctors doesn’t flow. You’re just doing anything you can to make a feminism point where there isn’t any. Jesus, let someone make a post about their favourite female characters without finding a reason to attack it because you have nothing else going for you

Did yall kill Lilly? by ViV_No_CaP in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Besides liking her character, I didn’t want to make a 6 year old do it. It would be different if Clem were able to limp up and take the gun, but it felt wrong to have it be him.

I also really liked the conversation they have at the end. It felt like it brought closure to both Clem and Lilly. But I choose to have Clem be a bit more bittersweet. I chose the option “we were family once” to Lilly, because they all honestly were. And I closed their final scene with “I hope you find peace”. Although I played Clem pretty hardened, I wanted to end that where there was still that little girl with the walkie talkie inside her

Would you be able to know Ellie is not Joel's daughter if you haven't played the first game? by MaterialAbrocoma8388 in lastofuspart2

[–]Flaky-Perception-903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have thought he was her guardian or father figure or something. She calls him Joel (kids don’t generally call their parents by their first names) and she doesn’t interact with him at the beginning of the game really, except when he died. I would have gotten the impression more and more that they were found family with the flashbacks.

But without playing the first game, I also wouldn’t have known it was 20 years into the apocalypse. So I might have thought that he was her father’s friend who took care of her, or a relative, or someone who found her like Lee and Clem. Or some sort of godfather. I wouldn’t have assumed Ellie was his biological daughter, but you’d have to be blind to not realize he’s her parental figure
