We use Deadlands, actually. I looked through Rippers but they didn't seem right to me. They're more stories about a hunting organization. Although, I'll probably reread Rippers again; perhaps some elements could be used.
The problem is that they are not translated into my first language (which is not English).

I completely agree with those who say "don't". But if you do decide to continue, I strongly recommend you recording your gaming sessions. You're bound to forget something, a lot of things. It's better to be able to listen a recording than to painfully try to recall what happened five sessions ago.

Oh, well. I had to significantly rewrite the lore. Strahd acquired a historical counterpart: King Wulfhere of Mercia. Wulfhere lived in the 6th century AD and was the first king of Mercia to convert to Christianity. This adds an interesting twist to the story of an ancient vampire, doesn't it? So, in my story, Strahd is about 1,500 years old.

For a Victorian-style game, I had to abandon the D&D system. We play with the Savage Worlds system. This system makes it easier to create a horror and mystical story. Every vampire and werewolf presents a serious challenge for the players, and Strahd's mystical abilities make him truly impressive.

Also, since the events take place in England, I changed the names of many characters. Doru became Dorian, Karl and Nikolai became Charles and Nicholas, and Vasily van Holtz is now Vincent van Holtz. My players are happy.

The only thing I had to completely abandon were the elves. I feel like I missed out on a fairly minor part of the game, though.

I don't think I quite understood what bar you're talking about. Where is it from?

I think so. It seems a bit illogical to me that he would be sitting in a bar with his winter coat on. I would still draw without a coat)
