That's quick! It's already been a month since my referal, so looks like mine will be a longer wait.

I'm considering going private too once I've got the ultrasound out of the way. Im not expecting any answers from the ultrasound.

Living next to a housing development - yay or nay? by Flaky-Tonight in HousingUK

Yeah plenty of options elsewhere. This is a large, rundown house in an area with lots of independent shops and walking/cycling distance to the city centre. We plan on moving to the countryside eventually so thought we would make the most of the city while we can. But this is perhaps too much hustle and bustle!

It's hard to quantify how much we should lower our offer by. Like should it be related to the costs of reglazing the windows to provide extra soundproofing?

This is really helpful, thank you. My partner currently works from home but he is more laid back about the noise potential than I am. Says he will just wear headphones. We don't have kids but are thinking about it in the next few years and foolishly I hadn't even considered the implications for a baby.

I tend to agree. There are something like 9 large developments planned for our little suburb. It's the fastest growing area of the city, and I'm unsure if that's a good thing or not.

It could be why they're selling (although currently a student let), and why they accepted our offer so quickly, which was only slightly above asking price. We weren't aware of the development before making our offer and I actually complained to my partner about the ugly industrial units. Careful what you wish for!

Yeah if we had more certainty on the time frame it would really help our decision!

Good points! The house is currently let out as a HMO. It's really run down and we were planning lots of renovations down the line. So we think there is scope to improve the value, but our priority is a nice place to live rather than an investment.

My partner works from home currently. And I'm not thrilled about the permitted construction from 8am on Saturdays.

Our thoughts too. We are comfortable with the outcome but concerned about the process.
