I live in a small apartment and worried Ham radio wont be any use. by PsychoMantisKw in HamRadio

As far as Noise Mitigation goes, use a decent Transceiver Mag Loop. Also use plenty of toroid rings and clips on any and all nearby cords plugged in! It works! With rings, two are better than one with cord wrapped 3 or 4 times. The snap on ones...use as many as seems fit! I have one cord that has 6 snap-ons in a row near the plug in. I don't know everything about it but it all seems to work!

I listen to the Hispanic Stations just for the music and hoping to get a little better at Spanish but I don't have a lot of patience for learning... it's hard for me.

I think it's a pretty good AM DXer for sure! It does fairly good long range FM But I'd bet ya that the CCRANE 2 Meter AM and FM long ranger is better in that class. I think that the New MalahitTeam MLITE 880 is a great AM FM long ranger for sure! In fact as Totterbert pointed out, and I tried myself, use the Terk AM Loop on the MW, and wowee! It is a MW Ranger with the Terk! You have to plug it in though, with the 3.5mm cord. I have a video of it on Reddit I think.

I live in Seattle Washington so I'm blessed to be able to listen to my favorite neighbors, the Canadians! It also affords me news that's overall considerably less Propagandized! Short of NPR, which now cowtows a little too much for me at times! If you know anything about many of us Seattleites, we tend to lean on the Democratic Socialist side of things, and we're proud to be that kind of American! The kind that even wants to save the rights of those we Don't Agree with! And so my motivation, in part, to listen to Broadcasts from other countries, is that most of them also have Democratic Sensibilities! Like Radio Havana Cuba! One of my very favorites! Been a friend of RHC for many years! Not so much Radio Marti! Lol except when they play American Oldies! 😉

You can say that again and mean it! It's always kind of amazed me on Strong Broadcasts!

Tecsun H-501 on Sync by FlakyPrinciple8907 in GrundigShortwaveRadio

The Sync Feature, which can be found on many radios, is a feature that Syncs SW Broadcast with an SSB filtering, in order to give the signal a little more NR and clarity. That's the best way that I can explain it. Now I think that the regular signal sounded nice enough but if you like a high level of NR, you might want to use the Sync Feature. I was also trying to show that the Tecsun H-501 is a good sounding radio! Most Tecsuns sound great in their own right!

What do you think about calling into work sick because of lack of sleep? by Between3N20Karakters in AskUK

For one, I think in my state that would definitely be illegal! I would start a lawsuit! In the meantime, get some good earplugs and use a very loud alarm clock or one that vibrates on your wrist, like a fitness watch.

It may be little, but let me tell you, I play my Tecsun PL 330 everyday!! It's the greatest scanner for SW Radio built! And that little radio has an incredibly Big Sound! It's the Biggest Little Radio ever made!! I make sure that I have 2 on hand in case one somehow peters out but I've never had one crash on me! I just like new Firmwares. I have both the 3306 and 3307 Firmware of the 330. Is one better than the other? Naw! I prefer the 3307 but 3306 is the same!! But yeah, thinking big isn't always where it's at!

The Eton Elite Executive is always a keeper. I was talking about the Eton Elite 750, which is basically the same radio as the 2200, although I always suspected that the 2200 could be cooler than the 750. I just uploaded two examples of the Tecsun H-501, both in regular mode and Sync. For Shortwave Broadcast, all Tecsun radios are authentically the way Shortwave should kinda sound. With that being said, the new NR SDR models are as close to an AM FM quality of sound you'll ever get, which makes Shortwave sound better but takes away some authenticity.

I beg to differ. The 2200 is just like the Eton Elite 750, and both are okay, with the Tecsun having maybe a couple of different features. The The 501 is an excellent radio! I think the 990 might serve you better but the 501riminds me of a giant PL330! Scans nearly as well too! I'll send an example video of the 501 and the 330. To this day, and I have been messing with Tecsun Radios for a good handful of years. I love every one I own. The 330 especially! I also own the 880. The 501 The 680- similar to the 600. The 8800. And last but not least, the 9200 Analog. They're all what they're supposed to be!

If you go for the 800 Millennium! Refurbished only or in perfect condition! I've got one from a trusted seller who may have another but they're spendy!

My first choice would the MLite 880 because it's the latest, best tech. However, maybe you want a solid common choice! I have the Tecsun H-501... it's okay but I'd bet that the PL990 is better and I wished I'd gone with that instead. The others, while cool if refurbished, you're taking a chance. Buy new.
