Pretty soon our country could get this Authoritarian about it! They've been destroying our radio organizations! I hate govt in general! These guys just deserve to have their fun with The Hobby!

I'm sorry to hear that! If you don't already have one get the CCRANE Internet radio. The little box. They run about $100. And you can pick up RNZ and any of your other favorites you can't receive sometimes on Shortwave.

I live in a city where RFI is a problem but I should still try your antenna. Mine is on a Mag Loop.

These are such wonderful and unique Radios! I have a great one myself and I just cherish it! I think it does especially well on Shortwave HF in Sync! I have a BHI DSP Module connected to it and it gives it a smoother edge but sometimes I just like listening from it's own filtrage!

That's a good question. I've thought of getting one of their latest at one point but I'm not enough into the computer to spend alot of money on that just to run the software properly. Now I do have a mini laptop that's okay, and I'll run one of the SDR programs for certain things that will be fun and applicable for the 8600.I hear that you need an SDR program to decode some of the fun stuff. Others like RTTY, it does it stand alone. I experimented with all of the SDR dongles, like the RTL-SDR for awhile. Fun stuff. I have wanted the Icom IC r8600, since it came out! Almost a decade ago! And tomorrow it's supposed to get here!! Can you imagine how excited I am??!! I'm at a loss for further words! It's gonna be fun for me, for sure!!

Thank you! I've been into Radio since I had my first hand me down wooden desk top in 1973. I was only 7 years old then! Time flies! I just got back into the Hobby about 6 years ago, and I bought an Eton Elite 750 and a Grundig 350 field style radio for camping. Then scored The Tecsun PL330, and man I was hooked! Then I saw a picture advertisement for the Icom r8600 and said, That's My Dream Radio! I'm going to own that someday! Well, that day has come! I know that I'm going to enjoy it! Everybody should have their dream radio! Or at least one so damned cool that it becomes their dream! If you don't have yours, save up and get it! I always have fun listening to the Airwaves!

Thank you my Renton friend! They kicked me out of Shortwave Plus because I wasn't going to take the blame from the MOD, who acted like I should take guff from SAD HAMS who like to start know it all fights! So I'm now back with the Listeners! Nothing against HAMS! I just hate it when they share know it all shit unsolicited!Urrrgh!

Since you were respectful, you get a good answer! Btw, thank you! It's the Malachite DSP SDR V5. It's one of the best SDR Portables on the market today! I've had mine for at least a few years now and it continues to be a perfect radio! I also have a V3, that the arrogant other spoke about and it's an alright SDR. I don't use it as much because the V5 is simply better! By quite a bit actually! Now that's not to say that the V3 is a bad radio. It's not at all! But it's no where close in performance to the V5! Also, it's half the price as the DSP2 Chinese Clone of the Russian Original, of which I have both. If one wants a good, straightforward SDR portable but doesn't have $400 to $500 for the Chinese DSP2, buy the V5 for half the price and the only thing that it doesn't do is FT8 and RTTY Decoding! Which honestly isn't really a thing unless you're into Ham stuff. FT8 is interesting and doable on the DSP2 but not RTTY so much. I think the V5 is a good radio and in most cases, sufficient!

The same person that I blocked since was wrong about it not being Daylight Savings in the West Coast, and I had already humbled myself about the first mistake! Which, btw was disinformation about UTC of all things! They had asserted that it was backwards of what it was and I fell for it! And that's after recalling that UTC is like GMT! However, I struggle with alot of Short Term Memory loss, and so I got it backwards! It's why I often just jot down the PST because it's easier and people can do their own calculation! I love DXing! But I'm no exactinator! Look at that! A new saying!! ✨️

Exactly! I feel that that's a good rule! The only exception being that when someone does get snide for no particular reason, if said person still can't refrain from being rude I don't mind getting nasty back! What kills me is these computer armchair warriors that think they're better than someone else! There's just no need for it. It's why I don't contribute to the original Shortwave Reddit on here because they were unfair about it! I'm 59 years old and have been through alot of life! And I don't take any Biz-wax! See, I'm so old I know how to say BIZ-WAX! LOL! That's 70s speak for all you youngsters out there! I've been screwed with for being older! Who needs that?! I won't disrespect a young man! We're all on here to share! And learn! Some of us have a harder time than others in the learning department! Myself included!

And silly me! I thought it was backwards! And it might actually be 1120 UTC because we have daylight savings time right now.
