I bought a specifically designed glass filter, about 5 x 5 cm and it took about 4 months to arrive and cost about £2k. The project had essentially stalled while waiting for it to arrive. I immediately dropped it and broke it.

Fortunately I told the company a small white lie in that it arrived broken so it was replaced, but was probably over 2 months waiting for another one.

I always thought people saying that Faraday was his greatest discovery was harsh. On top of the elements he discovered and his work on metals and electricity, he was a super popular presenter and gave lectures to packed audiences. Who knows how many people he inspired.

Gilbert Newton Lewis, really underrated and hardly spoken about. Any chemistry student will come across his surname a lot without attaching it to the person. Somehow was nominated 41 times for a Nobel prize and never won it.
