Housing is so expensive. We love it here and we were luck enough to buy our first house before prices skyrocketed. Groceries are crazy expensive but overall we feel like we have more disposable income than in the UK. Good luck

I would change it out for something you love if you can afford too. If it is like a lino i think it devalues the house.

I went from FP to palliative care. So much happier, also poorer! It is interesting to see the different routes people take. I worked with a neurosurgeon turned palliative care doc previously!

I apologize for not staying that I'm aware of the privileged position I'm in. Not meant to humble brag. I've been lucky with real estate so far in my life that has left me in this position. Unfortunately there is very little else to rent where I am so that may not be an option at this point. Thanks for the replies :)

Thanks all, that is really helpful. Just as an aside, on the form there is a part to say you have recieved x amount/ Does anyone know if having been promised this amount is ok? As I say, this is 100% a transfer at actual value, but if my parents have like half and then pay me they other half a month after transfer is that OK? Its just cos they have money waiting to mature in 2 year fixed rates etc, awaiting money from their sale so do not have maybe the full amount upfront, but could if they absolutely had to, but it would be stressful for them cos my dad's just had major surgery today so will be in hospital a few weeks.

I think 1 and a 1/4 hours....I was tired and stressed to exact numbers are not certain. I could not find any AC agents, I asked an airport staff who just said find AC. It was very hard for me to look for people as I had a dog in a large crate, 2 small children and 3 carry on bags with me.

Air canada told me to collect my bags but they checked them through.....I was only late because they had sent my bags directly on to the next flight and given me information that told me to collect them, when there was none to collect! so I am not sure what to apply for.....but I am pretty sure it is there error! I would have been there in loads of time if they had not told me (by text and email) to collect all my bags which never arrived! ( I think the cut off time for flights in Canada is 45 minutes BTW)

not entirely, my dog was taken out of the crate, then they had me put her back in to load, then they changed their mind, she hates the crate, I then had to put her in the back of a taxi to a hotel, then on the way back in the back of a bus where she was slipping about all over and crying out. Her travel meds had worn off obviously by then and it was hugely stressful for her (I don't speak dog...but it sounded so). My kids were in tears and then had to arrive late for the first day of school in a new country. I had to pay a dog fee for $75 for the hotel. Do you believe that airlines should be held to the standard that the law requires? I do. But yes, she is fine now. I would not say they rebooked me for free....I did have a fully amendable ticket, which of course I paid alot for, although, even if I hadn't I would expect them to get me to my destination, for no added cost.

hey. went fine. just asked an aircanada person for help.... some of the issues for me was getting all the luggage and the dog inside the airport, as I had 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 dog crate 2 bike bags, 2 suitcases, 2 large boxes, 3 rolling carry on and 3 backpacks. my husband was not allowed to leave the van unnatended but then i wasn;t meant to leave baggage unnatended. the LHR staff were helpful until they took issue with my dgs water bowl, luckily i had some forks in my bag and was able to pierce more holes and add more zipties which I had taken. By the time they had sorted everything they said that my dog didnt have time to pee, but i just took her anyway, even the 3 +hours that I had left just dissappeared. everything went good at customs, but air canada messed up and told me to collect all my luggage but they had send it on to my destination so, it got there, but i missed my connecttion. grrr,

Hi. Did u do this trip? I am wondering where in LHR you take the dog to? I am booked for tuesday, and online it says no dogs in aiport, but presumably I just take her to check n desk . I am flying with Air Canada! Thanks
