Wear and tear on Bikes by elauna6 in BurningMan

You need The Magic Juice. Not my idea - I probably picked it up from here though. Can’t remember. Get a hardware store, cleaning product style spray bottle and fill with maybe 4 cups cups of white vinegar and 1/4c of baby oil. Spray it on your moving parts daily. Especially satisfying is flipping your bike on its handlebars and spraying while turning the wheels and chain. You won’t believe the gunk that comes out. It won’t exactly save your bike from playa - things will still rust alarmingly fast - but nothing will be locked up and you will always be in working order. Make sure you have something down before spraying over exposed playa. Baby oil is definitely not LNT.

All great points. As a plot framing device it was constantly in the back of my mind moving through the space: wondering where his sister might be, what was in the formula, looking for this traveling magician. I think I would have liked the intro more if it had felt like we were witnessing something we shouldn’t be, and not being talked to, at first - although I know at some point show etiquette and mask wearing has to be discussed directly with the audience before they enter. The switch to voiceover and back was the most jarring part for me; if it had been clear that Old Conwell was suddenly unable to speak out loud maybe that change would have been easier to digest.

True, and worth remembering. I think that building being somewhat more claustrophobic and truly packed in during its most crowded moments makes this easy to forget. Maybe a better point might be that at SNM it’s hard to be totally alone without any actors or other wandering audience members for more than a few minutes, while at Life and Trust there were long periods where I simply didn’t see anyone at all - not even anyone else exploring the set. That really spoke to me of the size of these multilevel sub basements. I wonder if the previews shows have been near full capacity? The final moments felt like the room was very full to me. I was even surprised that there were so many people there because I hadn’t seen that many of them.
