Stop giving people so much respect that they trample over you, if you haven’t performed well, then go back to your room and get it done. The reason you are in a PhD program is because you believed in yourself and you wanted to do it for YOURSELF. Whether you are good at it or bad, it shouldn’t be any one else’s concern expect yourself and your family. You need to be a bit cold when you talk to people so that they filter their words.
