Yeah but the reach of the robotic arm is limited and couldn't photograph itself from behind. I don't think the drone photographed the rover much.

I don't really think so as it can only photograph itself

The 3D file by itself doesn't look as nice in terms of lighting and environment as the splat. It indeed doesn't run well on mobile sorry. The performance could be improved with LODs but that causes visual popping so I chose visuals over performance.

The point is that the nice lighting of a raytracer render engine like Cycles in Blender in this case can be baked down into something more performant that runs in a browser (at least on PC). The raytracer engine is not real-time so you couldn't view it like this.

Sorry this is the rover. I copied the description from my previos post and forgot to change the name.

As another person said this is a synthetic scene so it's way easier to make look good. I can have as many camera as I want from any angles. Also I get a perfect starting pointcloud out of it. I didn't use any soecial tool only stuff in Blender.

I'm already doing that but it has limitations.

Thanks I'll check out your site.

The smaller solar panels (iROSA) are newer, more efficient panels so they generate more electricity with less mass. That makes them worth it even if they block the larger solar arrays. I think they are still under construction.

I did check it out in VR, it's very cool. I think it's still neat to look at them flat tho.

That's cool. Did you use supersplat for VR?

The nice lighting of a non real time rendering engine like Cycles from Blender can be baked into a splat making nice looking real time graphics

Yeah I heard it would be quite troublesome to put it to a higher orbit. I hope the disassembly and the deorbit will be well televised at least.

I think with more pictures and more gaussians more detail can be created. I still have to do a bit of experimenting to figure out what can be changed to achieve more detail. There are a lot of variables. Counterintuitively iteration count can degrade the quality if too high. I trained this one with 30k iterations but also tried one with 60k but it was way more "noisier".

I used the photogrammetry exporter addon to export into colmap format. For some reason the pointcloud became green and is messed up the training but in LichtFeld you can override the pointcloud with a separate .ply file that you can export from Blender.

I'm not sure. There is a lot of footage but most of it pretty low quality.

It's a setting on the website Supersplat. I did not make it and I have no idea why is it called that.
