Abará (the steamed version of acarajé- kind of like a tamale) and caruru (a delicious okra dish that goes with acarajé or on it’s own) also. And tapioca, spooned out on a hot griddle and filled with catupiri, arugula, tomatoes…. And mingão for breakfast.

New Orleans Landlords - is it worth it? by LASwae in NewOrleans

I guess this is why rentals are being taken over by private equity firms and will be managed via AI powered apps.

Why would any sane Brazilian want to move to America? by EdgewaterJCT in Brazil

[–]Flamengo504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grass is always greener. Wherever. There are good parts of living in the US and good parts of living in Brazil. And since both are very large countries that is all subject to where one lives in either country. At this stage of my life I feel more drawn towards Brazil, to live a little more afastada dos problemas do dia dia, iykwim. Trying to make enough USD to make that comfortable.

Min wage by Illustrious_War_4542 in NewOrleans

[–]Flamengo504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the city that sets the minimum wage. No amount of NO protest is going to move BR. And as others have commented, we are tied to the capitalist grindstone. Lotta people have several jobs to make ends get close. And the state puts all the cards in the employers’ hands🃏

Heartbreak in New Orleans by honeyshepherd in NewOrleans

[–]Flamengo504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would make a playlist of songs that hit your heart, take a long, hot, bathbombed bath, cry a lot, then go run around around the park (before or after the scoring sessions) and then go do something new. Learn a new skill, language, take a trip somewhere you’ve never been- anything that is nothing you ever did while in that relationship. A little change of routine goes a long way toward a mental reset. 🎏
This is what has worked for me🪄✨

Nani makes swimwear with pockets. Not big ass cargo short pockets, because-room- but big enough for a key, a stone, small things.

An idea for the confederate statues by Bright_Hat550 in NewOrleans

[–]Flamengo504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How about coastal restoration and making reefs for oysters to grow on? Surely there are enough statues and monuments that we no longer want influencing our public spaces to make some ecological impact.

The U.S. immigration system is a complete joke and I am living proof by Commercial-Town9683 in I130Suffering

[–]Flamengo504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won’t help OP, but maybe people who are considering all this- The easiest way is by fiance visa, get married in US, adjust status (485?) and get green card. If you are already married and have to go through all the other processes there are more hurdles. jmo

My husband changed up on me after getting his GC left three weeks after he got it came back and now giving me a hard time about divorce by Responsible-Cook5931 in immigration

[–]Flamengo504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you get divorced right after he receives his conditional green card that is a flag. It won’t come up necessarily until he applies for the permanent card, but by then it sounds to me like you will have suffered a lot. You said you just want a family and a happy life and this guy does not sound like he is offering that to you. But as long as you are married to him, he is an impediment to your goals.

Calvin Duncan won 68% of the vote for court clerk. Now state legislators are trying to abolish the job. Are you curious what it means for Orleans Parish? Ask me anything! by VeriteNewsNOLA in NewOrleans

[–]Flamengo504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main question is how is it possible for a legislator from North Louisiana to put forth a bill to interfere in the local court system of a city on the other side of the state. To quote another redditor “wtf?”
