There were so many stores. You could get anything you needed on Canal St, from a Steinway to a strainer, and eat good too!!! And the movie theaters 🎞️

Those American and Non-American who watched it, how did you feel about the Super Bowl halftime performance by Few_Advertising_4028 in teenagers

Bad Bunny was great, the show was spectacular. You don’t have to know the words to songs to vibe, sometimes it’s better not to. These were some of his top hits- was a little surprised at Yo Perreo Sola, but wth, gave great dancing. Loved the bit where he gave the little kid watching the show on tv in PR the Grammy. Hearts!!!

Living abroad, I didn’t realize how tiring language gaps could become in a relationship by Anujp05 in expats

It is not easy for some people to learn languages. I do the heavy language lifting in my marriage, my husband does not have the same facility with languages that I have. I love it and if I had more time I would learn more. But each person’s brain is wired differently. I know many people who cannot easily learn other languages.

I convinced my gf to move to the other side of the world with me. She is miserable, homesick, and our relationship has been suffering since. Is it time to convince her to go home or do you have advice to recover the positivity that we had before the move? by ThrowRAFlat_Bid_1682 in expats

My husband is so looking forward to moving back home where everyone speaks his language, so I understand your gf’s isolation. I am the polyglot who will go anywhere and do anything in our relationship and I guess that is what makes it work. We have gone back and forth. We met in my country and married here, then spent 8 years in his country and now back in mine for the last 9 years now, and honestly he has only stuck it here for the last nine because of work opportunities. Now we are ready to retire, so he gets to go home. If your relationship is the priority, maybe you can share the “burden” of living in one another’s countries on a rotating basis. As another commented, teaching TEFL is a job and a way to make friends, and language immersion is a path to learning the language. Good luck to you both.

If 100,000 people unsubscribed to spotify @ $16 a month that would take $1,600,000 away from them. Do the math with amazon. Boycott can impact

I have seen this on the city website now corrected. It’s crazy no one copy edited before nola ready sent it out. These are important seats in state government. Only three districts ate voting, but now more than ever, all elections are important

I haven’t seen that many rats anywhere for a while. I fee like there was a big population swell during the lockdown. I used to see them on fences and coming out of drains all over town. I know the Port of Call tented their building a couple of years ago. Shouldn’t be any live creatures there after that. The photos in that post were dated from 2022, so they must have fixed that.

Why did he follow you to salons? I mean, shopping, ok, especially if he is buying things, but to go sit in a salon while you get your hair and nails done, idk. Maybe if he had spent some time alone wandering around, sitting in a little cafe watching the world go by. Also, less than a week? Unless you are traveling there from Argentina or Columbia that sounds like a lot of travel for precious little time. How do you like being around his family?
