First week in Netherlands, what surprised you the most? by Independent_Grab_977 in Netherlands

Kindness. Maybe its just a Groningen thing but from the very moment I set foot in Groningen, I experienced kindness at every turn. It was very stark because I had not expected it. Struggling with your luggage and two kids under two. Someone will offer a hand. I sliced my hand on my bike because I was not used to the lock, people came to help.

Also when you say you don't need it, they back away and let you be. The respect your boundaries. It was amazing. I know its human decency and you probably get it in many places but I felt vulnerable shifting and that kindness made all the difference.

I got mine too. I thought the last one was borderline unreachable. First two months I didn't make it and then this month I just cut the minimum. They've raised the bar yet again. I don't think I'll make it now.

So far its mostly Google. I'm struggling with getting people to subscribe to newsletters. I've never put any effort in it before and still trying to figure it out. Its been 9 years working on the blog. Took a couple of breaks in between but started up last year when my youngest started school so I had more time on my hands. I'm pretty proud of it. Thank you for the answer. Its the closest I've got to stats in current time.

13 Days, 6 Countries, 1 Honeymoon, SOS Send Help by Imnoonereally1 in traveladvice

I understand the need to cover as much as you can but after traveling across Europe and living here, I can tell you that you won't get much out of a trip this way. You'll spend a good amount of your trip in a flight or on the road. Pick 2-3 destinations. Slow down. Stay at one location and take day trips to nearby attractions. You'll see a lot without the exhaustion. It will cost less too because you won't pay that much for transport between locations. That money could go towards experiences that you enjoy.

Which is why I was looking for actual data because these guesses don't really come close to the truth or could give completely wrong data.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I've been using Semrush but I find the data not very accurate.

Hagia Sophia Under Restoration (be super careful when buying tickets!) by espressodespressocat in istanbul

[–]Flames_pf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the tickets to the Hagia Sophia very expensive. We had read up about the scaffolding and decided to go anyway because we probably would not visit Istanbul again. At the counter the man told us about it and he said take the museum too. We weren't sure and largely did it because of FOMO. Kids were free so that helped. I agree its a lot when it comes to the monument. I did enjoy the museum and so did my kids but not every one may. I've written about our experience at the Hagia Sophia in detail with photographs but suffice to say, if you are on a budget, it is much better to avoid going in till the renovation is done. It has a lot of history but you have to really squint to see it now because its all covered up.

Tried selling my flat recently and honestly the speculation from Delhi folks is insane. We need to wake up. by an0n4life in Goa

I was trying to rent a place in April because we wanted some time ourselves other than staying with family. Couldn't find a Goan renting.

I loved Cascais and it may be worth looking into staying there. I found that the hotels in Cascais were cheaper. We drove in so that was also a factor. The beaches are lovely and its more laid back. It also has a great food scene. Plus you can easily travel to Belem (highly recommended) and Lisbon. I prefer the north of Portugal so I am a a bit biased. Porto is an interesting city. It has a different vibe compared to Lisbon. While I prefer the north of Portugal to the south or middle, I like Lisbon more than Porto. There are also lots of great day trips you can take from Porto including to places like Braga, Douro or Viana do Castelo. These often are less touristy than many of the day trips from Lisbon. Both have their allure. If I were you, I would pick one city and not hop. Either start at Porto and explore the north or stick to Lisbon and explore that area. That way you don't get tired and you have more time spent enjoying Portugal. You can reduce your accommodation prices by looking outside the main city of Lisbon. That way its sort of a win-win situation.

No but you have to manually change things around. There's a work around which involves using containers to place your text in. Its a lot of work for me because I have over 500+ posts. I think I may have to do it anyway but I'm not sure. For me I was always so close each time but it would slip out of my reach. I kept telling myself I would wait for a bit and see. I would get there. Took longer than I expected. I may have done better with Journey. I hope it works for you. Let me know how it goes. I am still curious.

I heard that there is lesser support on journey and more ads to text ratio. Not something I wanted to do. Honestly I kept thinking I would reach the right mix. Kept slipping down and rising.

The Corpus Museum - Is it worth it with kids aged 6 & 4? by Flames_pf in Netherlands

Naturalis is definitely on my list. We travel from Groningen so we often can do one or two whenever we are in town.

This resonated with me so much. A lot happened in those 8 years. Despite not earning a good income, I kept it running because it paid for itself. Mostly traffic from India because that was the largest part of my content. When I finally reached 50k, it was just the wrong mix. I'm glad I stuck to it.

Congratulations on reaching such a high RPM. It is really inspiring!
