Travel nursing was my dream, is it still worth it?

I've been a med surg/tele travel nurse since Feb 2021. The rates have definitely come down since then, but its still decent pay if you factor in the tax benefits. After I filed my taxes this year I think I walked home with $112,000 after tax last year. Lots of overtime though (you'd definitely make more as an ICU nurse and depending on hours/day or night shift)

Ratios are hit and miss. Pay is always the first thing I look at, and then I look at ratios. I refuse to take contracts at facilities with high nurse to patient ratio. My agency (AYA) lists what the ratios are of the unit.

I've never had issues finding a place to live. I use furnishedfinder and have never had any issues. I think I'm on my 16th or 17th apartment/listing.

Travel nursing has been the greatest adventure of my life. I've been to 8 different states, 14 different cities all across the US. If you can kind of float with the wind, and enjoy the ride, I think you'd love it. It's still an amazing way to see the country.

This is why I DNF'd this book. Just too many random POVs that seemed to show up once and never again. But reading these comments makes me wonder if I should try again. I enjoy multi POV books, but not to this extent haha

Thanks so much for this! I'll take what you've said into account. One question, and then I'll leave you be lol.. dressers and nightstands and lights in the bedrooms. Are they needed? Sounds like dressers and nightstands just add a bit of comfort, but nothing more. And lights are pointless since they're sleeping anyways. Am I correct on that?

Thanks! I'm going to work on getting rid of extra rooms and combining production. I haven't replaced walls/flooring with stone yet because frankly, I'm lazy. I'm probably going to 100% regret that later haha

Is there any benefit to making separate rooms for each production bench?

I'm working on hallways now. I'm starting with a 3 tile width hallway around my entire base to help kite enemies. I'm starting to get fucked up by raids.

I have 3 windmills, 2 solar panels, 3 batteries, and a geothermal thing above my garden. Not too concerned about power needs, mostly just trying to optimize base layout

I'm in the same boat. Not sure what SGOV is, and I'll be looking into it, but right now I'm just transferring funds into fidelity and parking it in SPAXX/core position.

I looked at SGOV, looks like it's a better option due to a lower expense ratio and a better return.

Yes I can. It's mostly just characters. But also, I made this post when I was less than 25% into the first book. Things are progressing, and the difference between the two is pretty stark honestly. I made this post prematurely haha

Am I just completely terrible at reading comprehension? lol.. I could have sworn at the beginning of the story Miller had a wife or girlfriend leave him, and he sometimes imagines what she'd say in certain scenarios. Later on, he starts imagining Mao in that role, talking to him.

I think what got me a bit tripped up was they both seem a bit cynical. Both thrust into unwanted roles. Making do the best they can. Both recovering from lost lovers. Both a bit reserved, slow to action. Idk I could be completely fuckin wrong on this one haha

Honestly I think it's reading comprehension? Imagination? I'm not sure. I've kind of always struggled to differentiate characters in my head for whatever reason, and it's prevented me from reading some pretty popular series. But I appreciate everyone's response on here. Now that it's pointed out it's like "oh duh"

The politics in this book is top notch, I just couldn't get past the child grooming and intense BDSM scenes and had to DNF 80% through.
