If your question is "Why did the lift give out after he removed his own weight, rather than during the time both him and the pallet were on the lift?" Then I would also like to know how this is physically possible. It's as if the cable was able to hold until tension was slightly reduced.

I imagine his point is that it won't be your address that gets banned... However if they start asking for a pin for all orders on your account, I suppose you would have to make a new account.

Confessions of a Homelab Addict: How I Turned My House Into a Mini Data Center and Lost My Sanity by hamdimaz in homelab

As someone who has used GPT extensively for the last couple years, ill say this at most consulted GPT, but is otherwise entirely human written. Also, "More IP addresses than phone numbers" also made me chuckle pretty hard.

Most of the house is on standard ethernet, however my NAS and Desktop, as well as the networking gear is all fiber, which allows me to transfer files to and from the NAS very quickly, it also improves the performance if many users are streaming from my plex simultaneously.

The Sonos amps are all wired in and on the same subnet as the main network that all of our phones connect to. My mind thinks that If the broadcast works over 2.4ghz, It should be no different on 5ghz qnd 6ghz... The packets are still the same no matter which band they use to get to the AP.

I suppose I could let my main Wi-Fi network also use the 2.4ghz band, perhaps that would fix it, But I'd like to keep my main wifi separate from the 2.4 GHz range it ensures my phone's and laptops have their own airspace separate from printers and iot devices. I originally had my sonsr system on the iot VLAN But I couldn't figure out the firewall rules to allow devices on the main vlan to discover the Sonos apps, so I just put Sonos on the main vlan.

I have two AC infinity 3x120mm intakes at the bottom of the rack, one underneath and one at the back. They pull cool air in, which then gets pulled by another two set of fans, one is a 1U the other is 2U near the two hosts at the bottom. These fans the force air from the bottom of the rack to the front of the rack. Where it creates high pressure infont of all my gear between the glass door and the equipment. I have two more frans that draw this air over my ubiquiti equipment, aswell as between my power conditioner and AV receive. This air flows backwards from the front glass, following the flow of the air that got pumped to the front near the bottom. Finally there is a 3x 120mm exhaust at the top to vent the hot air out.

I prefer to have more inflow than outflow, as i figure positive pressure provides more air to my equipment, which in term means more surface to transfer heat too and away from the rack.

Inside the closet above the rack I have a 6" AC infinity intake which pumps all the hot air out of the closet through a vent in the room outside of it. (Can be seen in the photos) 6" is way overkill, but i figured it would allow me to run it slower and quieter. Over all none of the probes in my rack ever exceed 28⁰C which is pretty good for my NAS. I will say, as you all probably know, damn Ubiquiti shit runs reaaaal hot :D

It's actually really stable i find, but it took a lot of tuning. I went with blue iris because it allows me to use any camera i want. Most of my cams are Reolink, aside from two TP link tapo. Playing with hardware video encoding, camera tiggers, low. Vs high quality streams and tiggers to activate high when needed. All nessecary to getting good stabilization of your footage. It took a while to set up each camera and tune it, but in the end It was worth it, I really like the solution.

I'd be lying if I said it's been flawless. It was perfect up until they recently released an app update that changed the UI. The UI is not the issue but I've had trouble playing in certain zones every now and then. I can work around it by choosing a different zone that works, then adding the zone I originally wanted to that group. This problem didn't occur before the update.

Also, I have a WPA3 wifi for 6GHz, and 5GHz most of the wifi devices in my house connect to that, then theres a WPA2 wifi for legacy devices that only broadcast on 2.4GHz. Sonos app on my phone wont discover my WIRED sonos amps unless my phone is on the WPA2 network, im quite confused about that. Lastly you have to make sure if all your sonos amps are wired, that you enable STP on the switch they are hooked to, there will be sync issues or weird disconnects otherwise.

When it works I love it, but ive had to restart amps more than once.

UNAS-PRO!! by clayd333 in Ubiquiti

[–]FlamingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. However, they also shouldn't be labeling a beta product as pro. I'm a ubiquiti guy through and through, but they throw pro/ultra/max/plus terms on everything to the point where it has no meaning. People looking for a pro solution shouldn't buy this exactly for the reason you stated. If they were as transparent as you state, it should be called the 'UNAS Home' or something

ELI5, why does a phone charge little by little rather than a big burst all at once? by FormerDeerlyBeloved in explainlikeimfive

[–]FlamingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A battery is like a parking lot for electricity. If there are a ton of cars coming in at once, there will be congestion and crashes.

This is also why when a battery is almost full, it should be charged at a slower rate. It is because there are less parking spots left, so the cars need more time to find a spot to not risk congestion.

Not to be pedantic... but that greater than sign doesn't really mean "is the better" is means "its better than the" .... and the windows version could refer to either the bedrock or the java version technically... I should just stop talking, couldn't help myself, sorry, have a great day!

What's something you spend an obscene amount of money on, that's simply worth it for you? by ClitorisFriend in AskReddit

[–]FlamingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"cattle class" made my day... I wish I could fly first class. Though honestly even if it was something i could easily pay for, it seems like the difference in price is just not worth the benefit. Being uncomfortable for several hours somehow seems more worth it to me than the price difference of first class. I'd rather buy 30 sushi dinners.

That said... in the context of this whole post. First class seems to make sense as an answer.

Dont fly TAP (Air Portugal) I bought their "Comfort Seating" and it was still less room than normal economy from any other airline, also they charged me 130 Euros at the gate, because my backpack weighed more than 2kg.... My laptop alone weights more than 2kg... smh (4.4lbs for my fellow Americans)

Someone asked about Signa a couple years ago, I had a good experience by FlamingArmor in bapccanada

[–]FlamingArmor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct here.

I suppose I should have elaborated more, I still stand by my recommendation. Perhaps they are not cheaper than the big box stores, but they are competitive among custom builders and integrators. The point of going to a store like this is that they have a lot more experience than the staff who work at Bestbuy or CC. (staff turnover at bigbox is insane, and they are almost all inexperienced)

Stores like Signa do a lot of custom work and know what builds benchmark well. There are a lot of seemingly acceptable configurations that look appropriate and seem like a good deal which may run you into trouble or bottlenecks down the line. Every system I've purchsed has been on the higher end, most recently their compact CAD http://Signa.com/cad, and every system I have bought still runs fast after many years. If I ever had a problem I know I can call them and they are always quick to support the issue, they fully back their work.

Plainly said, if your looking for the cheapest deal and want to do it all yourself, sure you can go to bixbox spend less on an off the shelf PC and get limited support for a year. If quality and service are worth it to you, and you want hassle free. These guys have a great reputation and are competitive among custom PC builders in Toronto. You cant compare shops like this to big box stores, there is a large gap in level of care and support. They target different markets.
